- You are able to use other Factions Droid programs provided you have a Programmed Droid chip (Every Pilot is able to program UN-programed Droid Chips and trade them) and
- You have enough room on your astromech / Flight Computer.
You are also able to use programs well above your current Tier, The limiting factor is the Space within your Droid and the Space the Chip Requires.
If you Do a Galaxy WideVENDOR search at any of the NPC cities for Droid Chips (Listed in the Misc Section) You should be able to find what you are looking for.
myself being a master SW and a master pilot, I want high recharge rates before anything. reason being is that like HewerofWood pointed out is that if your running weapon capacitor overcharge, then you wont have much trouble running out of stored energy and if you have to use shield shunt then your capacitor recharges that much faster.
I know we stock both high recharge rate and high energy storage capacitors. cause alot of people look at the energy storage first and then the recharge rate second. but there are those who knowthat weapon capacitor overcharge is pretty much a must to be affective for any long period of time in a dogfight. hence the reason why we've started stalking lots of pre-programmed chips for our customers and at times it was hard to find any pre-programmed chips that weren't way over priced.
then again that's just my point of view
I have found that good quality Level 2 Caps are all you ever need on a single person fighter. You should be able to find a level 2 RE'd Cap with 850 - 1000 energy and a 35-40 recharge rate with a little searching on the Vendor wide bazaar.
With Weapons Cap Overcharge droid chips of the level you are on, you should never have energy problems with weapons. It's important also to note that Weapons Overcharge 3 is still borked and reduces energy cost rather than increasing it, as intended. This also currently makes powerful capacitors on single player ships a non-issue as well.
