I am an up and coming sw and I need a guildeline (in order or out of order, matters not) on how to properly price the items that I craft. I have seen many different ways to do it and I am at a loss as to what price I should be selling something as simple as a tier 4 ship, with 65k mass on it, for.

Each server is different. Best to just hit the Bazaar daily for a week to see how the prices go, compare their product quality with yours and go from there. I especially cannot help with chassis because I don't make them. I only stock the best resources I can find andchassis normally sells for 3cpu or less on my server. I won't use my best resources, and a huge chunk of them at that, for just 3 cpu.

Like the previous poster, I agree this is different for every server. I would recommend acquiring your resources to make your items and then determining what the production is going to cost. See what the quality of that product is going to be and then you can adaquately compare your items to other SW's. No sense trying to come up with a price when you don't even know how your stuff is going to compare with the rest of the server.

The only thing to watch for here is that if you are going setting out to put out premium components, you do have to watch out for your costs. If you buy server best resources and end up paying prices that are too high, you could get hurt.

On my server, I sell my items for 30-40 cpu, which admittedly is very high compared to most people. They're probably THE highest prices on the server. However, because of the lack of premium quality items I sell quite a good number of units. I just raised prices due to a higher cost in resources. I was worried about being able to sell them for the higher price but there was really no way to know without just putting them out there and see if they get taken. When I saw they were selling regardless of this price I bought an insane amount of resources to lock in those prices for as long as possible.

Your first month or so there is going to be a lot of trial and error. Eventually you will find the right prices for your items. Keep notes on them. Track how much something sells at one price compared to another, etc. It's just being a good business person. If you are charging 25 cpu for two items and one isn't selling, lower the price if you can. If it's flying off the shelves you can probably charge more.

Unfortunately you can't know these things until you get out there and sell units. The market is the market and only the market can decide what you should be charging. Just listen to your sales numbers and go with the market.

Hope this helps.

On my server, I am pretty close to this guy. I do not sell chassis because they tend not to move as quickly as components and would be ungodly expensive if I charged my current rate. I only use quality resources and make some of the best equipment on the server. I can never keep my vendor stocked. I started out at a lower price but was crafting all the time I was on to try to keep up. So, I doubled my prices and when that did not work, I increased them by 50% more. It is still tough to keep up.

I see other SW charging less than half of what I do on the server but I have noticed that they do not have stocked vendors and are hit or miss. Pilots want to land, go some where close, and know they will find what they are looking for. For most, the price is secondary. They will pay twice as much if they know they can take two minutes to get it rather than fool around running to shops or using vendor search. I craft 3 to 4 hours a day on most days.
