Thread: Shipwright should not cost skill points!
Yes, make it a free profession, then EVERYONE can be a SW and RE their own gear. Existing SW's ? Well who cares that they've built up their business, they have no right to make money out of giving up their skillpoints for this crafting profession. After they do that, why not lift the skillpoint restriction altogether so everyone can be everything ?
Hmmm, apologies, I'm having a bad day and that's a touch sarcastic perhaps but you get the idea, leave it as it is, requiring skillpoints please.
Time? We all have time.
Money? We can all easily get money.
As it is right now, there is barely an economy for shipwrights, there is no reason to make it any worse by allowing every single player to 'freely' become Master Shipwrights.
Yeah, then I may actually be able to take part in higher lvl content then I will be when I max out at a whopping combat lvl 60!
We're doing our servers a favor being Shipwrights, because SOE has tried so hard to make our profession useless, but for some reason we stay with it....

considering our xp doesn't convert for jedi, we get the crappiest xp per unit of resources, and none of the new content ships can be crafted sony should do the same thing they did with politician and make it a free profession. Just take the engineering 4 requirement out of it and make it a seperate tree. sounds too easy huh
I have a better idea--remove Jedi from the game ![]()
Sorry, but I tire of hearing how hard the Jedi have it. If you don't like the difficulties in becoming a Jedi--DON'T!!! (and this way we don't have to listen to your endless belly-aching).

Thank you! I agree. In fact, I think we could argue the fact that the Jedi still have it too easy, since there are TOO MANY of them. It's meant to be hard, and Jedi should be extramely rare at this point in the timeline.
As for the SW skill points and prerequisites, leave it alone. As someone else said in the thread, the only one I could see altering is Merchant. I think Merchant should be reduced in SP cost similarly to Image Designer, in that the boxes cost 1-4 SP instead of 2-5. Or even go a step further and make every skill box 1 point. It would allow crafters to actually have a mix of some combat and some merchant.

I like the thought of everyone having 250 skill points for crafting/entertainer junk.. and 250 for combat.. then i could actually go to my harvestors and factories by myself
Hmmm...I was just thinking this the other day myself. I talked to a bunch of friends about the idea, and they pointed out that WoW uses a system that allows players to specialize in both crafting and combat skills. The system sounded a bit different from SWG's skill based system. However, since the whole game is turning into WoW with a Star Wars skin, maybe we just need to give it a little time and you will get your wish.
