but the player can only use them after they have got the badge from doing the quest.

Nah, they're quest rewards and one should do the quest to have one.

Same for the grievous starfighter, it's a loot and should only be obtained by killing NK-Necrosis, imo.

So you have to be aLvl 80 ground combat master to pilot a ship in space....weird qualifications.

Would have made sense if you got the thing after completing the CPG mission in Kashyyk....solo of course....

As a shipwright for nearly a year now, I am curious as to why shipwrights are so hung up on crafting chassis. I for one would be happy if we didn't have to craft any chassis for the following reasons:

  • They require far to many resources to make it practical.

  • There is no fun in crafting chassis. It represents a mindless task that I can easily assign to a woolamander; it requires no subcomponents; experimentation doesn't really do all that much; the resources that go into it don't really make all that much difference.

  • I can't charge anywhere near the kind of mark-up for chassis that I do components.

In my opinion, the devs should make changes along one of two directions:

  • ALL chassis should be rewards for missions/quests.

  • ALL chassis should be craftable by Shipwright; however, this would require changes to decrease resource requirements and increase the fun factor.

Personally, I'm at a juncture where I would just rather the devs make all chassis mission/quest rewards.

I would vote to go with the second option. The best would be to give us some customability with the ships. There are more than two variables in ship statistics than mass and hit points. Let us experiment with them - YPR comes to mind. Let the points we spend in chassis building have more effect. The difference between a novice who crafts a ship during grinding and a 12 point master is minimal - this should be fixed.

I also vote for letting shipwrights build chassis for another reason - let the players decide what they want to do, not the game. If you dont want to build chassis let someone else do it.

To address the original post, I do not think all quest ships should be craftable. I think the reward ships you get from ground quests, the Grievous and Jedi Fighter, yes that makes sense. But the other ships you get from the CPG quests - Crimson Tie, Heavy X, Vaksai - let a SW go through the quest and get a limited use schematic for it.

I personally think that Sony got it backwards BTW. I think that the player should be able to get blueprints (quest or purchase), and SW should be able to turn that into deeds. It makes no sense to take 70k units of steel to make a blueprint.
