Specifically, this number represents the amount your capacitor energy will be increased once per second.

thanks...I had a capacitor with a recharge rating of 19 thinking lower was better...found one with a 40 now and I sure can fire a lot more now!!!

With Capacitors, I work on increasing the Recharge Rate as much as possible.

With a high enough recharge rate, it is almost possible to continually fire weapons without ever needing to stop to recharge. Even then, if you do use up the Capacitor Juice, it doesn't take all that much time to get back up to full.

I have begun working on decreasing the amount of Energy Per Shot on my cannons as well. With the right manuerverability and a 'never-ending' capacitor, chewing through NPC fighters will be super easy and scoring hits on PC fighters should be more easy as well. Sometimes, it really is about who can lay down a more continuous stream of fire.

For example one of my crafted Level one Capacitors:

40.7 Recharge Rate with 877 mass

When combined with a capacitor overcharge 3 astromech / flight computer command it will have a 81.4 Recharge.

This will never drain to 0 on you from constant fire even with up to 2 higher level weapons.

For a larger ship with 3 or more weapons a craftedlevel 9 Capacitor with around 63 Recharge the mass will be high around 30 to 33k but will also never drain to 0 on you when you use it withthe capacitor overcharge 3 command - it's recharge rate will spike up to 126 and no matter what 3 weapons your using there is nothing in game that with drain it.

Only look at the engery pool stats on a capacitor if you are going to use capacitor to shield shunt flight computer commands.

I haven't used any Overcharges, but perhaps I should look into that now...

when chosing a cap, or when crafting one, i take my total weapon(s) energy per shot amount and try to get the recharge rate to match. with some of the faster weapons it wont cover you, but its a good rule of thumb to go by and easy for the customer to understand.

after matching the recharge with the weapon energy per shot i dump the rest into storage - the more the better for shunt to shield.

and always use one of the cap overcharge commands, if your are teir3 or higher you shouldnt be flying without all the droid commands going.

What he said.... my weapons are 14.1 and 13.9 per shot(28 total), speed on both is .31... so.. I consume 85.96 energy per second when firing my weapons... my capacitor is(with cap o/c 3) 2299 energy/101.7 rechg... no worries there.... since the recharge rate is higher than my comsumption rate... this or similar combo IS the 'never-ending capacitor'....

be advised tho... the lvl4 droid/fc commands do more damage to the systems on your ship... I would recommend using only lvl3 commands... of course... it's personal preference...

I use reactor o/c 3, engine o/c 3, cap o/c 3, weapon o/c 3, and cap>shield shunt 3... my capacitor has plenty of energy to fullyrechage my 1700 shields(Actis.. limited by mass), and I can keep shooting since cap>shield shunt 3 only uses 3/4 of the stored cap energy, not all of it like cap>shield 4 does.

I do(on occasion) use weapon o/c 4... but only with crafted weapons, since they are more readily replaced with equivalent/better weapons than are looted/RE'd ones.

What is this overcharge 3 astromech command? I do not see it in the list of available droid commands for a level 3 pilot. Does it have to be crafted into the astromech by a DE? I do not see a shunt from the capacitor command either. Am I missing something?

Reactor Overcharge, Capacitor Overcharge and Capacitor to Shield Shunt are Freelance pilot commands. If you're not a freelance pilot, you'll have to find someone selling a Ready Chip with the command. You can take the ready chip and burn the command into the droid.

Weapon Overcharge is an Imperial command.
