Thread: Unsustainable venture...

I have yet to really notice a lack of business, honestly. And most of my customers are veteran folks.

I cater to them by mass producing ammunition, space mining equipment, master level ships, Mark IV and V weapons and so on. Plus, there are not too many active SWs on my server (or so it seems--I have at least one person send me tells asking permission to place me on their friend's list because they know no other SWs).

All in all, I am doing well. My mining equipment sells well, plus the ammo I stock can go by pretty fast (all of the vets love the Space Bombs lol). When people are looking for ammo of any kind, space mining equipment, or master level chasiss, they come to my shop. I have at least established that much, so I don't know lol.

Also, as time goes by you (the shipwright) will eventually find better and better resources too, and if you're products are just a little better than they were the monthbefore than you'll still sell to those veteran pilots. Alot of them, like myself, won't let price stop them from making their ship all it can be.

And also with the intro of RotW, people have more ships now and hopefully will strive to outfit them all with thier own parts (yes, I know there are alot of people that just swap parts around, but they're no fun anyways )

Just my 2 creds.....

It looks like everyone has outfitted their new toys(ROTW chassis) with the lastest and greatest components(engine and capacitor upgrades). Our primary source of income (if some of you guys haven't figured it out yet) is outfitting up and coming pilots. Once they reach master, they rarely need our services because they either loose intrest in flying and/or use deepspace for the decay free fix. So how do we keep our business sustainable? Any suggestions are welcome.

1. Request introduction of parts efficiency reductions over time for parts that run over time(ie: capacitors, engines, reactors). Part efficiency is reduced overtime. You can see parts efficiency reductions when componenets are damaged in combat but since damage in space is usually immediately followed by death, many people don't see their parts running at reduced efficiency. Thus requiring a pilot to get a regular tuneup to return parts to 100% efficiency.

2. Request introduction of parts efficiency reductions over usage for parts that are per use(ie: weapons, boosters, engines). Same as 1 except on a per use basis. Engines on a per use basis for jumps to lightspeed.

-Constant tuning of parts when not in space seems like a regular thing in starwars. Tune ups can be done by using repair kits to restore efficiency to 100%.

3. Request reduction in decay from 10% to 1% and removal of decay free fix from deepspace. This one is a bit iffy and maybe dislike by most pilots. Mathematically as it stands, a standard parts last around 26 total destructions and repairs before it becomes unusable due to decay. If decay is reduced to 1%, a part has to be totally destroyed well over 200 times before it becomes unusable. This to me as a pilot it completely acceptable. In the 200 times i've been destroyed I should have been able to acquire excess funds/loot to find a replacement part for the stuff I lost.

I can not keep my vendor stocked. I use the best resources and make a quality product. If you are not a Master Pilot, become one. Then go help newb pilots or pilots that are respecing level. It breaks the monotony of crafting, give you some fun content, and you will probably pick up a few customers for life. That newb pilot today could be the head of a 50 player pilot guild in a few weeks. lol It has happened to me.

Since RotW went live, I can't keep up. My custom order queue is so long that I sometimes have customers politely come and tell me that they found the parts somewhere else. However, there are only so many hours a day to play.

Decay. I think decay is fine. I am also a pilot and have experienced decay. It is not uncommon to have to change out my armor on occassion. In fact, this is one of my hottest selling items--armor.

It also pays to keep consumables stocked: repair kits, paint/texture kits, missiles, and counter-measures (less so).

I have also found it profitable to provide my customer with astromechs, flight computers, unprogrammed droid command modules, and even programmed droid command modules.
