Thread: Please explain to me how RE works
It is a pretty complex system.
Here is a link to a great player created guide on it from the Shipwright guides and reference material sticky
guide to RE

Let's say you have a nice lootedlvl 8 blaster. It has great dmg but the refire rate is a bit slow. You want to get it reverse engineered you say?
First off you need to take this blaster, plus 7 additional looted lvl8 blasters. During the reverse engineering process, the shipwright puts all 8 blasters into a tool and runs the process. This process will make one blaster with the best stats of all 8. So it will take the best dmg, the lowest refire rate, the lowest mass, the lowest energy drain and so on.
So you want to try and get blasters with atleast one good stat each. One with a high dmg, one with a low refire, one with low mass, and so on. That way when they are combined, you'll get a fantastic blaster.
Same thing for other lvls. Level 10 needs 10 lvl 10 parts, level 5 needs 5 lvl 5 parts.
OMG that's a lot of boosters.
Let's say I want to RE a boltdriver, since it's hard to find anything with higher dmg (other than bolster that i know of), there's no way to increase its damage???

One more question, lets say I want to RE a lvl 6 gun. I get 6 of them and 2 have uber stats, the other 4 are crap. I will only take the stats from the 2 uber ones right?
It will take the best stat from all of them. The crap ones may have one decent stat. If they do, it will grab that one stat.
Ipromise, this is thelast one lol. How is the RE item named? Which one out of the 6 stays as the name?
Also, this is my first attempt at RE, I tried for a nice lvl 6 gun. This is the stats that I'm comming up with (on paper) taking the best stat out of each and increasing (ie damage) and decreasing (ie rate of fire) it by 4%.
Energy drain: 1953
Mass: 10317
Damage: 1595-2504
vs Shields: 0.694
vs Armor: 0.677
Energy per Shoot: 24
Rate of Fire: 0.393
What do you guys think?
It takes the name of the first part the shipwright puts into the component analysis tool by default, otherwise we can name it ourselves, but there is a name filter that blocks anything with numbers or
