is there a list of what tends to drop what loot in space to help people when looking for parts in re-engineering? I know i tend to get shield generators our of A wing

it random. there are level ranges tied to the different tiers of npcs but the actual type of loot is random.

I'd go with tier 3 pirate spawns for low to mid-grade stuff (I was getting level 8 shields off tier 3 corsairs in Lok, but also level 3-4 stuff) . Tier 4 Black Suns drop mid to high grade stuff (mostly 6-8), and if I want the best chances at high level stuff I hit kessel or deep space. Sorry not really a guide, just my experience. As far as I've seen loot types are completely random, although I think brand names are determined by spawn (ties drop Seinar parts etc). I haven't fought rebel ships so not sure what they drop.

In the end, it truely is random, even down to what drops what. Sure, a tier 1-2 ship will drop a more Cert Level 1-4 stuff, but you can still get some good things off them (managed to get my 36k reactor off a Tier 2). And, while the higher tier ships (ie Deep Space) will have a higher average, you'll still get a fair amount of CL 1-4 stuff from them as well.

As to specific drops, there are all sorts of rumors. Like the one that the B-Wings in Deep Space drop the best guns. I can say that, while this might be true on average, my 2 best CL 10 guns are both from Nova's in Deep Space. And yet, Nova's have about the worst drop rate of anything out there.
