Well, you used be used to this being an architect.... you are going to need a lot of resources. THe stickies are your best friend on this one. It will tell you the exact resources you will need if you want to do the quick grind using chassis. Lucky for me, I'm a pack rat and just happen to have the resource on hand when I decided to go SW.....

In short: Tons and tons of mats, namely steel. Grinding chassis' all the way up will use an insane amount of materials, but get you to master before you really feel like you've even started crafting. I think the count was ~50 total chassis, maybe up to 70.

which leads to a market flooded with cheap ships at 2cpu as people get desperate to earn back the credits spent on the grind .. which leads to decent chassis being unsellable at a decent price.

So very true. And then factor in all the "free" ships with RoTW, and the ship-crafting business is pretty much shot. Sad to say, but the only new shipwrights that aren't seriously hurting the economy are the /respec ones, since they won't have a ton of chassis to sell for insanely low prices.
Hell, I still have a few of my grind ships on my vendors, and it's been a long time since I made them. Very long, but I keep tossing them back up there. And yeah, they are really cheap, but for any decent pilot that compares their mass/hitpoints to that of a higher quality one, they will typically be willing to pay the extra. It's all the newer players that are just wanting to try out ships that those are meant for.
