Can I NOT master SW and be successful?

Basically, I am interested (at least to begin with) inmaking my own REd parts for my ship (as these are the best generally I believe) as well as collecting parts for the Firespray. Is this possible without mastering, as I wont have enough SP? If so, what trees are recommneded?

Thanks

With the defense systems line, you can craft launchers and missles. It would be good for income and you can use factories to mass produce missles. They won't be as powerfull as a master's but still pretty good. If you keep a steady supply you could do well.

As for revese engineering, it depends on what you will be working with. Each box in each line grants a 2 point skill mod toreverse engineering partsin that line. The first line,Spaceframe Engineering for example, grants2 points to Chassis/Armor reverse engineering per box.At master you get an additional pointfor each catagory.

So youwould be able to reverse engineer armor pretty well with all of spaceframe engineering. You'll need all 4 lines though toget a decent result on all parts.

I encourage you to check out the detail in what each box grants, you'll see what I mean.
