Average damageare:
Heavy disruptor v shields = 868.52
Heavy disruptor varmour = 2569.39
TT8 v shields = 1545.86
TT8 v armour = 1594.94
where average damage= (min+((max-min)/2))*verses/refire
So the TT8 is better balanced for overall attack as a single weapon (e.g on a TIE Interceptor or an A-wing), but if you have a good Ion Cannon in support ofthem the Disruptor will kill the armour in no time.
Also lets not forget the mass factor which is significant for a low mass craft - making the TT8 particularly suitable for single weapon fighters.
In summary - it depends what you want to use it for, both are effective in the right circumstances.

In my opinion, you're comparing apples and oranges. Disruptors are meant to rip apart of armor--you use these after you've stripped the shields from a ship. Blasters are a compromise (sort of the jack-of-all-trades) weapon that can be effective against both shields and armor.

ARe they both the same level weapon? The reason I ask this, is find yourself 6 more of that level. (assuming they are level 8) and have them reverse engineered.
No need to compare then. You will have yourself a ripping weapon
these are both level 5 some i only need 3 more.
thanks for the idea!
