my brother but a bunch of new starship compoents tier 2 and when he tried to install them most gave him the player utility error : cannot manipulate. any ideas?

If they are in a backback, or some other storage apparatus, try taking them out and try again. Ive heard of this before, andI thought this was the problem.

I had this happen to me the other day, too. In my case, the gear was actually in my Sorosuub (I use it for some of my RE loot), but still showing up on the list of available components. When I tried to load a component that was in my yacht, I got this message.

They really should just make componentsa person iscarrying the only ones loadable on a ship.
I hate it when the stuff I have in my bank account show up on the load screen (ie 3 crates of missles but you can't tell which one you first used). It's really a pain in the neck (and 50 cm lower) expecially for shipwrights who still sell things on the bazaar.
Yes I still sell things on the bazaar...I'm one of those crazy people who think that if new people can get reasonable equipment for a reasonable price will like to one day shop on my vendor. Not that they ever read the descriptions on the items i'm selling.

Yes this most commonly happens when the items are stored on a POB ship. The system just sees the component as free without knowing that it can't actually access it.
