I'm getting almost the opposite, where it doesn't appear graphically that my weapon is firing, but it's draining my capacitor and is doing the damage.
Thanks for the info about not being able to damage someone else's spawn, I was wondering why I couldn't damage that darn thing.

I didn't know it was someone's spawn btw. Is there a way I can tell?

MoreCowbell, in your case it is indeed a graphical problem. There is a fix for this currently on Test Center!
# Fixed a particle object leak that would cap out the number of particles show on screen. This would keep bolts and other effects from being rendered.
# Priority system changes for effects to help keep blaster bolts from disappearing
As for the topicstarter, I think the right causes have been named already..

Last night I had several complaints about the ships weapons not working, they would fire but not damage anything, and not use up any energy, as if they werent being fired at all. I contacted a CSR who said that this is a known issue and that anyone else having this problem should submit a ticket. Just thought you all would like to know so that when your customer comes to you and says, "You sold me a broken weapon." You will know what to say. Also if anyone knows how to get around this bug let us know

Also, most people still aren't aware of the invulnerable shields bug. Ships only take damage if you hit them on the nose or tail. A solid hit to the middle of the body makes the shields flash, but no damage is delivered to the shields. So even if their capacitor is draining they will be doing zero damage to their target if they don't hit it in the correct spots.

Also, you can fire at other players ships, but you will not do any damage unless you are both overt. (and opposite faction)

Also remember that players cannot damage spawns belonging to another player's mission (uness grouped with that player).
