If you notice the highlighted items above you can see some of the the glaring differences in ships. I don't mind the differences really but what I do mind is the cost of the ship and the mass of the interceptor in comparison to the other tier 3 ships. I'm paying the same amount for a tie bomber as I am the Tie Interceptor because the amount of resources used is the same.
Trying to use an Interceptor to do tier 3 missions is suicide. A few changes to the interceptor are needed. It needs to have 2 gun hardpoints so it will fire 4 lasers as it is supposed to (it already appears to fire 4 eventhough it only fires one) and it needs its mass increased to at least 80k mass. Then it would still have less mass than the other tier 3 ships but have the firepower that itneeds to have for its tier....take out themissle slot if need be but the interceptor must have 2 linked guns to fire 4 lasers. I could even see taking outone of the twogun hard points from the TIE Bomber....its a bomber not a fighter. Balance for imperial tier 3 ships vs rebel and pilot tier 3 ships would then be solved. And it would give the TIE Interceptor more mass than the tiny A-wing....making the A-wing more maneuverable than a TIE Interceptor and a lot harder to hit as well I might add.
What I also don't understand is why every ship of the same tier uses the same amount of resources...which causes the prices for each ship to be the same. Shouldn't the max mass possible of the ship dictate the resources required to build it and also its cost to the consumer? Shouldn't a bomber type ship with a lot of mass cost more than a light fighter? Why as an imperial pilot am I forced to pay the same cost for my little tie fighter as the rebs pay for their massive y wing bombers? Why do I have to pay the same cost for a TIE interceptor that I pay for a TIE Bomber?

The mass offsets the handling. The Y-wings turn like boats. Each actual chassis has an acceleration and roll rate to them. As an example take off in your newbie tie fighter, then go for a flight in your yachte. See the difference? The rebel ships are slower than the imperial ships, but the imperial ships have the better handling. Neutrals ended up somewhere in the middle.

Im of the opinon they are doing what they are doing to the mass to allow for different style of ships. So that, an a-wing is not built to carry a ton of stuff, but is to be used as a light attack craft. Where as a B-Wing is designed to hold a lot, and be used as a heavy attack craft. Why the resources dont line up to the mass im not sure.... Maybe its because they are trying to balance out shipwright.
I have no problem with the mass setups if its for gameplay. The resource requirements dont really bother me either. I just charge for how much resources I use.
