ive gotten a few replies as to who would make the helmets if they introduced
genneric pilot helmets to the game and who should make them if they did
in re gards to this i say who else should make them tailors? i do not think so
if we go by the story line a pilots helmet incorperated electronics specificly
designed to interface with the ship and why shouldnt the ship writes have a
unique item to make for a pilot to wear just cause its a ear able item doesnt
make it the iminent domain of the tailor its a pilot helmet for not dancers
chefs or other ground based proffessions its for asthetics and a way to let people
know that your a pilot who likes to look like a pilot and not just any other player
on the ground....... i say this for your discusion if generic pilot helmets were
introduced to the game shipwrites should be the ones to make them...............
its a item for use by pilots and should be made by shipwrites?

Makes a helluva lot more sense for a droid engineer

Remember that in the Deathwatch Bunker a Droid Engineer crafts the Mandalorian helmet and the bracers, it was explined that this was due to the complicated electronics in the items.
Personally I'd have thought that what would make most sense is to have a Tailor make the item but require subcomponents from a Droid Engineer (and/or possible a shipwright) this would als o help the Devs in their quest to get people from different crafting professions interacting.

I'd saya Tailor with some Master Artisan components like GP's or the like. ThenDroid Engineer withthe Tailor helmet component.
If Tailors made wearable helmets, but then DE's could use those helmets to make upgraded helmets that gave a bonus to Driod Interface delay times, that could be interesting...

why would a droid engineer --at the very least a master artisan--make the components yes but the actual helmet would or shopuld be made by the shipwrite
a tailor would make the components as well but final asemply would be done by the shipwrite in my opinion
the only helmet made by a tailor is a speeder helmet and its only for looks
a pilot helmet should and could have some thing like a bonus for speed and targeting like in new hope when luke used his targeting computer and speed for acessing droid comands that part could be made by either a droid engineer or the ship write but the targeting thats a ship skill only so should be made by the shipwrite
how ever since their are no armor peices in the helmet the only colaboration with the artisan would be to obtain either fiber panels synth panels or re-inforced fibre panels
now if the devs wanted to there was a device added to snub fighter suits to protect them from zero pressure when they ejected a small shield genorator would engage when they ejected.... this might be a nice armor smith addition to alliviate the damage taken to a player when they eject....the helmet texture kitts could also be made by either the shipwrite or the tailor/master artisan or all 3 with different kitts made by the differing proffessions

Uuuh, lat count, in star wars none of the helmets, save for storm trooper ones had any techincal benifit, other than helping keep the pilot alive.
Give it to the tailors, let them be able to do it. It doesn't need mods, it just needs to exist as a "cool" feature.
Remember, not everything is useful, some of it is for flavour as well.

finaly some one who agrees with me
and the shipwrite does the final assemblythe way i see it a talor
makes clothes thats what a tailor doesbut its a pilot helmet no
armor in it not supposed to have armor in it,itis a device that gives heads
up display for targeting information a de,am and a shipwrite for the assembly
armor smiths have to much on the hands now with the new armor and tailors
well they dont need the extra money let them be content .. besides most tailor
have other skills as well

Why? what would a shipwright be doing making helmets?
There are at least 3 classes that I can think of better suited, including Tailors.
Ships are what shipwrights do, Helmets are not. Flight suits are not. You think Boeing makes flight helmets?

Tailors make a "socketed" helmet that fits DE parts. I don't see us shipwrights getting involved with this...

definately sounds like a Tailor/MArtisan components to make these...or make it really weird....get a componet from the DE the SW and the Master Artisan....3 components...1 from each...
