Thread: Whats going on...

SorryI haven't been posting much, but its frustrating over there in the corr forum. Some requests dont get a reply, some get a reply but i cant post it, some get a reply and i dont know whether or not i can post it, and never get an answer on if i can...

But mostly, i just have nothing much to tell everyone, and i guess i keep waiting to post something significant but that time just never seems to come.

Basically here is what i've been up to in there:

  1. Crafted vs. Loot

    • Made a detailed post and linked it to the focus thread.

      • Lots of other Corr input, but no dev reply.

    • Going to post again tonight.

  2. Factory Support

    • Asked what the design decision was regarding limiting factory support, linked to factory focus thread.

      • Recieved an answer, but never got permission to quote it.

        • The short paraphrase is: Shipwrights are thought to be more of a customer customization crafting class

    • This issue is not dead, but waiting until more major things are addressed before bringing up a list of options to change it in some way.

  3. Changes to starter ships

    • Asked why this decision was made

      • Recieved an answer, basically what we all know: newbie pilots complaining about prices

      • My counters to this went unanswered, they seem to be pretty resolute on this change.

  4. Started a thread about whether major changes should be discussed between devs and correspondents before pushing live

    • Prompted by the surprise decayless deep space change

      • I was given no notice of this, nor was it in any patch notes until it went live.

    • Thread still active

So while i may not be chiming in a lot (i've never been a super-poster, im still not quite at 1000), i'm still here reading and representing you guys...

Cheers!

Grrrrr.......why do some pilots not get the fact that there is money to be had in space and that i never bought a tier 0 ship at all.never needed anything more than the freebee ship till i hit tier 1 missions. the ship given was way to good for even the level given. And i didn't sell all the tier 0 ships i made, even threw them on the bazaar, so you know i didn't make any profit.

They cry about prices and complain that the crafters charge to much, whine about loosing there solo grouping cash, then scream that they can't play anything.

IMO, they are all grinders who don't know how to play, nor understand what content is and what playing the game means. its not grind and get to the top, but its suppose to be enjoy the view along the way.

If its so expensive, why don't they pick up SW? Or find all the extra chassies floating around that now one used anymore? I make so much cash in space and with only 100c for repairs, i been buying a ton of stuff on the ground game. I haven't done a single ground mission since JTL beta. i may play TC where things are cheaper, but there is so much in space now, with low tier ship dropping tons of loot, oh and the chassie broker paying for parts, how are they not making any credits? Did they not notice the credit chip in there inventory and destroy all the loot they get? Are they not using some of the loot for there ships? I did, and my skills have greatly improved that i could use weaker parts and still survive just fine.If you can't make money in JTL, you are definatly doing something horribly wrong.

Tell the devs they just caved and cowtowed to a bunch of wimpy players who want everything handed to them and will just complain that is no content when they skipped most of it trying to get a uber toon.

They made an almost perfect crafting profession and just killed the novice in it for a bunch of complainers. Oh, and they probably didn't play the ground game at all. Figures.

Thanks for trying Styx. Here's hoping that they fix some of these things ASAP, especially the loot/crafted balance. In my mind that's a pre-ship thing to have worked out...

Thanks for fighting the good fight Styx. All we can ask of you is to pass on our issues to the devs and bring back their response.

How much they let you say is up to them, have you thought of asking for all new players to be given new weapons and basic armour - Mabari armour and D-18/DLT20 etc.. to at least be slightly more comparable with AS/WS crafters (tho I doubt it would effect them economically)

Good Luck on getting a response on loot v crafted. Together with the prototype ships they are a big barrier for novice.

It is nice to that our wailing and flailing at least has the possiblity to be addressed by the devs. Still, when they make deep space decayless without even asking the SW corrospondent or all the shipwrights who have been screwed over not once, but twice in this recent publish, it doesn't fill me with a whole lot of hope. It just seems like the SWG team is drowning. There are so many things that need fixing and content that needs adding they'll need to double their staff to make progress instead of just treading water like they are now. It seems SOE has jumped off of SWG like rats off a sinking ship and have put their full support behind EQ2, but if some of the game reviews are any indication their actions may have been a bit premature. I really don't have much evidence of all this but that's just my general impression.

It seems to me that it would be more viable to hire some new staff, even if its just for the short term, and fix the problems quickly and maintain the player base, perhaps staving off the slow decline thathappens to alot of MMORPG's. ITs time to take stop gap measures. Take all the items you see in npc houses and slap them into the player schem lists. They're already rendered and in game, it shouldn't be that hard to do that it seems. Maybe up the payout for killing things as pilot since it is no longer viable for a newbie to pay for JTL stuff and ground stuff. And for crying out loud bring back manufacturing support for the new loot. Since the solo group nerf no one should have to pay a mil for a wanted poster of princess leia. Sorry this turned into a rant, but I'm considering leaving the game because for some reason, i feel that I could be involved in game with no future, I wonder why?

The drop rate is too low now IMO, and rather than fix hte issue of make crafted items up to par with the better looted items, they created an even worse situation by effectively nerfing everyone. Agree totally a few little changes to the possible crafting values (after loot revamp I and II in space) and we would have been fine

-Changes in starter ships... what's the point is selling a Z-95, Tie-LD, or Scyk now? 20k is too much? You can even find these for 5k on the bazaar still if you look hard enough. All you need to do is kill a bunch ships and get loot components from killing tier 1 ships and then sell the low quality ones to the chassis broker. However this new pilot money making tacticmight not work reasonably anymore because the loot drops were reduced so much as mentioned above, so SOE effectively caused the problem on their own, and then "fixed" it by screwing over another profession.

-The PvP changes, doesn't surprise me they changed this without even discussing it first, as it seems to be a trend with them pushing out changes without asking what the players actually think about it. IMO I think it's nice that it promotes PvP, but it significantly lowers shipwright business. As more and more pilots master and then only go into space to go PvP, they'll effectively never take a single point in decay ever again. Where does that leave shipwrights? At least in PvP armor decays when itabsorbs damage, weapons decay when fired, and food and meds are consumed on use. The effective 0 decay would be like making all armor and weapons never decay when fighting another player, and infinite use on food and meds when fighting other players, it's just not reasonable.
