Howdy All,
I was noticing this morning that ship components come in 11 varieties:
Armor, booster, capacitor, countermeasure pack, droid interface, engine, missle pack, reactor, shield, ship chassis and weapon.
Has anyone else noticed that only 8 of those you can reverse engineer? And that there is one of each type of item required to build a ship fully loaded? On top of that, how many FireSpray disks are there? 8 :-)
Armor, booster, capacitor, droid interface, engine, reactor, shield and weapon. I know people have been RE'ing thousands of parts...I'm thinking there's one disk from RE'ing each part type...

If you're a Shipwright, i would suggest testing this out, Datto. If not, you should assist your friendly neighborhood Shipwright with the test. Make an Excel chart too.

I smell coincidence but certainly worth investigating. Ive gotten 2 disks...both were 3/8. No idea what spit them out though. I do know they bother were level 1 though.

That is a good find, now we should definitely put it to the test. However me on Kauri I never get to go up much always filling customer orders lol, so my parts are scarce as far as loot goes except what i get from friends and customers!

buy @ 1k per level...you'll get all you need since most pilots delete stuff constantly. At 1k each you can turn around and sell it for 10k each....works great for me.

I buy at 3K per item and re-sell at 4K/level.Don't make much (just 1K per item of course) but I figure I also get a chance to get a schematic part.

I've been RE'ing close to 1000 parts now...its not 1 part from each...ive gotten 7 discs so far...3 from armor, 2 from droid interface,1 from a shield and 1 from an engine...so its not 1 per piece =)

Consider yourself lucky. I have done over 2000 parts now and still have only gotten 4 discs.

recieved kuat disk 4/8 today from 2 lvl 2 droid interfaces, dont know if this helps much, but it seems that there might be a pattern to it. One of the two interfaces was a Kuat part, but dont know much about the fragments that are popping out.. im still a while before my other character makes it to that point
recieved disk 1/8 from REing armor as well once server came back up.

ughhh
I've RE'd over 600 parts, and not received a single disk
After I RE some of them, I have to delete them, then start over, mostly level 1 and 2 pieces.. I should just give up :/

Don't give up, but don't hold your breath either. AndIwouldn'tjust go deleting everything you RE. Stand by a vendor while you are REing and offer the items up for sale as you RE them. That is what I do.
About this rumor that the Kuat items increase the probability of getting the schematic pieces: there are a couple of things people might want to keep in mind. 1) there are a LOT of items with Kuat in the name, so it's likely that a few of your schematics will come from one. 2) since a lot of people are expecting the Kuat items to yield one, a lot of people are keeping count of how many times the Kuat item yields one for them, but few are actually counting how many times a Kuat item doesn't yield one for them. This leads to erroneous conclusions.
Me, I'm a skeptic by nature, and believe the simplest explanation is the best until somebody offers proof to the contrary (simplest being psuedo-random). I count how many time that Kuat items don't give me squat, and it's pretty much every time.
(I have two pieces btw, but neither came from a Kuat engineering item). So far, it looks completely random to me.

I have three disks. Two are 1/8, the other is 3/8. Since I have two 1/8 I started thinking why. Just as you said, I recieved the second 1/8 from RE armor. I put two kuat armors in that RE. I have never recieved a disk except by including a kuat peice in the RE. I'm thinking that the part number that you get depends on what thing you are RE:
1/8 = RE armor.
4/8 = RE droid
...
Has anyone else gotten a 1/8 from anything other than armor?
I would actually be preferable to have the piece depend on what was RE since its easier to collect what you need than just having it random. I mean think about it, if you had 1-7 and only needed 8/8. It would take a long time before you could get the eight part if it was random component number. Course its always possible to trade but I prefer just knowing what parts to RE myself. Another thread mentioned a nerf in the loot drops and I will confirm that. I have noticed that the loot drops were decreased to about half what they used to be. Also, lower level ships are not dropping any higher level loots anymore.

Man I have some bad luck. I have RE'd over 1500 parts the last 9 days for no disks.
