Thread: Here is a Dev update on POB components, Asteroid resources, and the Y-8 Mining Ship
Ok, i've seen a couple people ask about the Y-8 storage capacity and number of turrets it will have. I am here to answer these questions as an owner of a Y-8 on ahazi.
I have a cargo hold in my Y-8 with 34k storage in it, and with the posibility of more experimentation on pob components that should go up. As to the turrets question the Y-8 currently has 2 turrets AND a pilot operated main gun, added to the 2 more front side turrets makes 5. Confusion will have come from people saying it currently has 2 turrets, forgetting to mention the main pilot operatedgun (which is hard to use as there is a metal support in the screen right where the turret aims...lol. I'm liking these updates a lot! keep up the good work.
Maby the reason the Y-8 hasn't been fixed yet is that the PoB ship designers have been busy doing something else - thinking of ISD video and that a new expansion is coming with no new sector, does this mean the space developers have been busy on a project they havn't told us about? please.
I read on the TC feedback for pub 24 that the current live bug for the Y-8 is fixed, but on the next quest where you have to kill a Y-8 and it's escort (destroy the guilded wookie quest if i remember right) that if you kill the Y-8 the kill gets registered by the system, but for some reason the escort kills are not registering. I deleted my TC account so i can't see if this is true but if it is are you aware of it/going to fix it?
Thanks, and keep up the good work, if every publish is this good i can forsee a time of *gasp* a major bug free swg *faint*

All 5 weapon slots on the Y-8 are configured to take mining weapons, tractor beams, and regular blaster weapons. If you find a weapon that won't go in a slot, or that is non-functional when put into that slot, please post the details here or in a separate thread so that I can take a look at it on my side---issues like that are usually isolated and only relate to certain items on certain ships.

The turret change will affect all existing and new Y-8 ships---you will see that two new weapon slots are available to you in the component management screen. The bottom elevator button that currently takes you to the lower back turret now has two new options to take you to Front Turret 1 and 2. No new questing required.
DP - I haven't used my Y8 for some time now, but I know there were issues with putting mining lasers / tractors in certain slots... i.e. putting those items in certain slots means they won't fire. Sorry I don't have details, so if anyone else does, please post.
If this is by design, could we have some way of preventing us from loading those invalid options so we don't get into space only to find we need to land and reconfigure?
Perhaps this is a dead item... like I said, I haven't been mining for a while.
Thanks!

dude...who the heck are you...did someone sneak into S.O.E. and start doing some stuff and responding with inteligent information......you can't be one of the dev's...
you rock.
would love to see some pics of the Y-8 and the angle of fire for the new guns.

Ok, I just found an issue with current Y-8 Ships, don't know if this will be addressed in p24, but took some friends up just to dust off the old thing and check for the loot box (thanks for confirming it red dwarf), when piloting the ship, the pilot sits like they are riding a bantha, super spread eagled in the pilot's chair. This was confirmed by the people in the ship that could see me, so it wasn't a bug that just had the examine picture acting weird. This is probably a quick fix since I know they can sit normally in the MP ships, just bringing it to this thread's attention, double check the operations chairs too.

I think ops chairs works, but I know the 'bantha' sitting pilot was bugged (and I know red-names are aware of it).
In case they don't have time to fix it there is a workaround:
Launch
Leave pilot station
Select pilot chair
/sit
Then bring up radial on chair and select "pilot ship"
You will then be piloting and in the right position.
hey...i like that, didn't know you could sit in the chair and not pilot it...talk about the role-play possiblities.
