I think their 50k mass is good for the interceptor, IMO sence the Empire was using mass tactics it only makes sence that they had no shields or hyperdrive or droid onboard most Ties. However that doesnt mean that their is no space for it, you would just have to sacrifice something. On my interceptor I was able to install a lvl 7 eng(72spd, 60+p.y.r)a lvl 7blaster(1900-2700) and a lvl 7 shield(1700/1700 re10).With no armor or droid or photon luncherand only a lvl 3 cap and a lvl 1 reactor(11000 output).

With it Iwas able to do the second tear 3 mission for the Black Epsolon sqdrn (BE ppl you know how long and hard and sadistic that mission is) alone. That was a true gunfighter

Bloodfin. Katia Rifleman, TKA, Swordman, Imp pilot

There is a fault with what others like you have said that "the Empire using mass tactics it only makes sense that they had no shields or hyperdrive or droid onboard most Ties."

There is absolutely no WAY the Empire in SWG's ground gameor JTL, has the advantage in numbers like it should. You are very much likely to find an equal number of Alphabet fighter flights to TIE flights.

This throws out the reason for "disposable TIEs" due to the Empire's mass production philosophy. So now since Imperials have no numerical advantage, we rate getting wet paper bags?

Another thing to break the immersion of the Empire's numerical superiority... the JTL TIE Pilot missions themselves.

Anyways...

I will glady fly shieldless, hyperdriveless TIEs under these conditions:

- The TIEs get the speed & agility advantage they deserve.

- Imperials get the numerical advantage, whether this has to be done by more NPC TIEs / Wingmen

* The 3 factors above comprise the TIEs defenses, not shields!

- Imperials get to deploy out of starships, i.e. Imperial Star Destroyers. TIEs are short ranged, hyperdriveless fighters. They don't do extended flights / patrols on their own. They deploy out of capital ships or space stations / bases / platforms.

well if we getting picky, if the TIE class suffer on mass, then they should get a bonus to recharge systems(solar panels, not current). While the other ship class get no bonus to recharge systems but get higher mass (which is current). Imp have solar panels plus a reactor.... other faction ship types only have reactors. If the solar panel have no purpose, i want aball with no wings =)
