I diddn't mean to go off on a rant there either, but with Shipwright the 'sell more for less' mentality dosen't really come into play. With missiles and paint kits, I can do that since they can be factory made. Just pop a schematic in the factory and go do something else.

With the components it isbalancing act of finding a resonable price for the them. Reasonable being high enough to keep the resellers away and not having to restock every day, and low enough so that anyone on the server can afford the parts if they put for a little effort to get some credits. Of course since I am well known for producing some very good parts, I suppose ego does have a little factor in the price as well.....

Since every major component is hand made, it burns out a lot of shipwrights. 2 well known ones quit just a few weeks ago. And even though I bough out 1/2 of their uber resource stock, I also inherited a lot of their customers. I would love it if another couple of sw's would come to the server and start up a business. I could use some more compeitition (ie. a break).

I am also making deals on parts for resources. Just this morning, someone came in with a lot of resources to make 4 complete sets of pob items and a bunch of mining equipment. He had all of the resources, so I'm just going to charge him for the subcomponents and standard resources. If he had brought in enough extra asteroid resources, I would have accepted that as payment as well.

I also got an email today from someone who wants to start selling asteroids as a business. If they can keep up with demand, I plan on cutting the prices in half. Hopefully they won't get bored and quit after filling the initial order.

I realy like the crafting in this game. The complexity and variables involved makes it interesting to see just what you are capable of producting and the drive to always do better.

I've had pretty brisk sales in Elite components over the weekend. I only do work to order, since there's no frakkin' way I'm going to try stocking a vendor.

I've got a Master Pilot altwith a triple Mk IIIMining Laser X-Wingand I've been contracting out for asteroid resources from customers, giving them a discount on their order equal to the fair market value of their contributions. Even so, keeping up with Carbonaceous supplies has been utter hell. Thankfully, my customers tend to be VERY reasonable about lag times between order placement and delivery, and its paid off nicely.

One thing I've seen sell extremely well are the Mining Lasers. Mark IIIs and Elites are becoming VERY hot commodities.

One thing I've taken to telling my customers who want markdowns if they supply their own asteroid material is "Bring Extra". Out of the half dozen major orders I've done, I've had exactly one go without a critical failure. Usually, there are at least two or three, no matter what the hell I do. I've had Null Bolts have three straight amazing successes, followed by a crit fail on one component. I've also had some unusual midrange successes come up lately. I've had a few Good Successes, and from out of nowhere, I came up with a plain Success.

Thus far I've chalked it up to just the vagaries of the crafting system, but its damned frustrating that its so variable.

I'm selling all enhanced Elite parts for 250k so far. They sell out in hours of course. If I really can't keep any stocked I'll have to raise the price because at the moment I can't find time to make everything else and my vendor is rapidly emptying. On the plus side I do enjoy mining. On the minus side using up 12 hours of weekend mining in a couple hours of crafting is discouraging.
