Ok - would like a little more information on this.
I have a customer that wants an X-Wing chassis crafted with high quality resources, realizes it will be expensive and is willing to pay for it.
But, I am reluctant to do this if it doesn't make sense. Any stories to share on similar experiences? how much of a difference did you see?

This is the way I see it. If I put my best resources into a chassis (If I expect the customer to pay through his/her nose for it).. what happens if you have a critical fail in experimentation? You just lost all thatgreat resources. Also, I could better use all those resources into making hundreds of other things. That means more traffic going through your shop, more customers, more word of mouth and your vendor having allot of items for sale.Besides, to me its not really about how many credits I earn, its the traffic in my shop and being able to help multiple customers.
Quality is by far better spent on the idividual components.

Yes I know, but what I really meant to say critical failure on the experimentation.

But not because of critical failures. You don't loose the resources on a critical failure on shipwright chassis or components!
