The consumer has to keep in mind that resources are a commodity and ship chassis can require vast amounts. As with all resources, the high quality ones sell for a premium.

When I was first starting out mining and wanted to upgrade my harvestors on a budget, I was able to find an architect who was willing to allow me to supply the materials. This is always an option that may be available. Of course the most cost effective way to do this is to mine them yourself or find a reasonably priced resource dealer.

At the lower levels there will also be a resale market. Ships on your datapad can be redeeded and resold. I suspect this will create a source of low priced ships as people upgrade their pilot skills and move on to bigger ships.

As for basic systems for your ships, there are loot items. Some places are better then others for finding loot parts. Loot subsystems in the low levels rival anything a shipwright can make. You start your pilot career with a free low lvl ship, use it, get some loot parts and plan for your upgrade. You can't upgrade your starter ship but its quite usable for your first tier missions. You really don't have to upgrade till your second teir when you will need a hyperspace capable ship. Upgrading before then is strictly a luxury.

Ships are perhaps one of the most complicated systems ever added to SWG. You will find yourself constantly compairing parts. Yes, it can get complicated and you may even need a notebook handy to keep up with everything. There are certainly ways to fly on the cheap and still get great results and you will have to do your homework. Finding a knowledgable ship wright to help could be a problem as its all so new.

for mark 1 componets 4k each for a set of 10 40k. i'm assuming a reactor, engine, shield, front and back armor, capacitor, booster, droid interface, 1 projectile(blaster), 1 missile launcher, and countermeasure.

a tier 4 ship takes like 32k resources. at 10-12 CP for really good quality resources that is a price that STARTS at 320,000 credits just for the hull.... if you dont care about qaulity then the price can be dropped to start around 80k... jst depends on how badly you want that extra mass.

problem is on chasis even the best resources only make a 200-300 point diffrence

just not worth the extra money or the wasted resources when u can put the same HQ stuff in componets for better results

It will be interesting to see what happens with the prices.... but to put it into perspective... a suit of composite armor is going for more than what some of the mid to high level ships will be going for. It's time for the armorsmiths to lower their prices.

I don't plan to Sell really cheaply-- I have to make ends meet and avoid getting flooded with orders.

However, neither do i gouge. If someone needs a ship they can't afford, I'm willing to work out something with them. Credits aren't the only thing of value in this game. that said, i do expect I will be paid what my services are worth... and they're, frankly, worth quite a bit.

Same for me, without the ability to use factories for the end products selling cheap will cost me to much time to keep my vendors stocked.

I will be aiming for themore wealthyplayers since there are enough shipwrights on my server that will focus on the not so rich, the resources i use cost 10-200+ cpu (erco for example) and with my force crafting skills i will be able to make awsome ship components.

Some people will always want to make the very best, even if it means burning the great resources. In the end, I suspect we'll see the market shake out with those whosell the absolute best ships and those who sell ships 98% as effective for 80% of the price. They will still make just as much money on the ship since they will know exactly where they can get away with lower quality (and therefore cheaper) resources.

The same thing has happened in the doctor buff crafting market - it's not necessarily the doctor making the best buffs that is making the most money since they tend to overpay for resources in the quest for the best.

yup that is correct. i would NEVER waste any of my 900-1000 quality resources on such a huge waste. grind quality materials does just fine but some people want the best. for them it will be very very very costly if they can find a shipwright willing to sacrifice such good stuff for such little gain.

I don't recommend using Tier 2 grind ships - you'll get frustrated. Tier 1 ... using grind materials for a ship is fine. Tier 2, you'll want all the mass you can squeeze out of it.
