Thread: How do you people make money??
Primary income is component sales, RE is a service I do for free.
Very easy to make money if you know how to make the parts.

I make money on the components, and only build chassis on request. I do pretty well selling the engines, shields, and armor, and weapons.
But, mostly SW is fun. I just love it when a frustrated pilot contacts me and asks for a better item. If they are serious about getting better, and I can get the details of all their current parts and chassis, then I can tweak their load-out with custom crafted equipment. Most of them are blown away with the perfomance upgrades. It puts the fun back in their flying, and I feel good at then end of the day. The personal interaction is what makes this profession great.

It all depends how much time you want to put into it. With effort, the high quality component market can be lucrative.. but if you want the best effort/profit ratio, then SW is certainly not the best choice.

But with no bench mark beyond the other shipwrights on my server (Kauri has a low population of SW's that carry stock) to compare to the term "high quality" is a subjective one. Lets take my first Mark 4 shield as an example, roughly the stats are 1940/1940 front/back 16k mass 3080 drain. Would you consider this high quality or is this pretty standard?
I would call a >20% assembly "good quality" and >25% "high quality". If you are not getting a good assembly, you are not going to produce a good component.
