But if BE's can "Generation Clone" pets they've crafted (unless they changed this and I didn't catch it) why not allow some level (maybe not fully) but some level of RE'ing crafted parts?
Like I said, a Bio-Engineer can craft several pets, and actually take DNA samples from them to make another pet.
So why not have some sort of system to allow SW's to be able to do some low level RE'ing of thier own parts. Doesn't have to be full all out same system.
Im just trying to shed some insite on the subject that this actually does happen in the game on a different profession (or at least something similar)
Oooo, a BE Reference
Several things come to mind. For one, consider the fact that DNA must be obtained by manual sampling--a process that I am fairly certain is quite a bit slower than SW crafting, though I fully understand that SW is time consuming as well. Also, because the BE resampling system feeds back through actual crafting, the result is that you are actually LOSING quality overall--it is a process of refining what is important in the pet, and losing what you consider unimportant--for a reduction in creature level. RE on the other hand is purely a bonus--and it's a bonus upon the maximum of the stats of the constituent parts--quite nice, really, but SW's drawback is that it's guaranteed very lossy ( >1 item loss per % point), whereas BE is only partially-lossy (I'd estimate 30% pet loss per generation or so).
Ummm... that's all for the moment ![]()

HEHE,
THought that would get someone's attention. Yes I understand and know the BE generation sampling. I helped a friend to understand it themselves. I was just pointing out that there are/is methods in other professions.
I personally have no issue the way it is. Think about it. These parts (crafted) are serialized (as everything is and should be) but there is more to it that just "similar" parts. No way SOE is gonna let a MSW craft a booster with cruddy materials, then craft a good one with great materials and get a great product outcome. However, if they did install something to do it and put it on a dice roll where you'd be lucky to get a good part or not, or for that matter have both items fail (which in all fairness would be fair when it comes to RE'ing "crafted" parts vs looted) people would still be complaining.
