Thread: New Engine Numbers

The masses are high because exept in MPS you are not supposed to have all Mark V components in them. You have to choose what type of ship you want. High damage, fast, long lasting and many more options. This is to keep the "Composit ideal" from melting into space.
Ok... so as an Imperial Ace I really have 2 choices on what to fly, the Opressor, flys like a brick and the Advanced, good ship. On the Advanced I have 65k mass. WIth this I would be LUCKY if I could put a single Mk V component on it. If I did put that Mk V component on my ship, then I would have to have the rest of my components be Mk I & Mk II.
So great... I can use one of my weapon slots and put a big ol level 10 weapon on it. But to compensate I will be slow and die very quickly since I can only put on little shields. I wouldnt feel like an ace with this configuration or any of the other combinations of the one big component limitation. If you have 5 options on your ship to use your "Ace" level components and you can only pick one of them that is simply stupid, 2 or 3 would be more reasonable and make sense.
I am not advocating that I should be able to outfit my fighter with all level 10 equipment, but the mass to level ratios need to come in line. As is stands now the only difference between a 3322 Imperial pilot and a 4+++ to acepilot is the number of hard points for weapons on the ship.

Okay, they've patched it so engines are improved a fair amount. Conductivity no longer applies on speed (though yaw/pitch/roll and a few other stats still use it), and engine speeds in general were increased, I believe, so here's a comparison of pre-patch and post-patch engines. I made all these with great but not uber resources, and the appropriate overdrivers on each:
PRE:
Mk I: 52.2
Mk II: 60.8
Mk III: 68.3
Mk IV: 76.5
Mk V: 84.4
POST:
Mk I: 56.3
Mk II: 65.8
Mk III: 76.8
Mk IV: 89.1
Mk V: 102.8
PERCENT INCREASES (ROUGHLY):
Mk I: 7.8%
Mk II: 8.2
Mk III: 12.4
Mk IV: 16.5
Mk V: 21.8
Looted engines are still better, but this patch brings what we can make much closer to what you can find in space. Might actually sell a few of them now. What do people think? Did it go far enough? Anything else engine-wise that could use work?
We wanted to see how far we could push it on a MK IV. We got it to 90.2 with some extream resources.
Since your on my server Tomo, I'll list the resources, all of them except the radio are the best ever spawns.
Steel - Ocek 995OQ
Iron - Carbace 1000OQ
Alu - Opimiow 996OQ
Radio - Duraheoce 815OQ/951PE (3rd best or so OQ/PE combo to ever spawn on our server for engines)
So I'm thinking the very top for this engine is somewhere around 90.5 or so, but will never match the 92.5 engine.
Also if you don't mind Tomo, what resources did you use? Obviously some of the above resources I used are too rare or expensive
to justify putting in an engine that is sub-par to the engine everyone on the server gets.

My 101,7 33k mass 51/54/51 rates is for 100k, one Master Shipwright has little better engine with 102,8 30k mass 51/51/51 rates for 150k.
BUT IAM NOT SELLING IT, IT IS WASTE OF GOOD RESOURCES. Truly, iam not craftng engines because i will not use my Tridenisis steel and Afefium radioactive on 33K mass 51 rates junk. Not speaking about Mark 3-4 engines, against loot theyre slower, heavier and with lower rates. I keep my resources for future times.

You shouldn'tconsider MK5 equipment as ACE equipment. Think of MK5 equipment as capitol ship equipment. Only the super heavy bombers and MP ships are going to be able to house these items.
If you want to get crazy you can try to mount capitol ship laser onto your a-wing, butyour going to have to ballance it out in other areas.
I actually sell my components for about 16 cpu (60K for a level 7 with an upgrade), so I'm not that cheap. I've been trying to find the middle ground between clearing myself a bit of the market and still making an all right markup.
You're definitely right about it not currently being worth the cost to use the best materials. Have to wonder if this was intentional, what with even components taking so many resources, or whether it was just an oversight.
Anyway, thanks again, and it's good to see the comparison here.
Bull doggy!! I use a loot cert 10 shield in my ace ship all depends on what u want or need eheh ill take a 42k mass hit in exchange for a 2600 fr 2400 bc 15.32 recharge shield anyday
