If you have a fair stock of parts to work with, some with high output, others with low mass, etc etc you can start combining these to make parts with the best of both. In Beta I found some Lvl 3 Boosters each with some amazing stats on them (Low Mass, huge speed boost, very low consumption rate) and I combined the three of them to make a "Get me OUT OF HERE" booster. Nearly doubled my base speed for a good long time too.
