Thread: Do Shipwrights actually exist?

In short yes, we do exist. We are just on a higher level then all you others. We are looking down on you hording are spaceships and parts. We want space for ourselves. Ohh, no i've said to much

I feel your pain dude, I have a 4/4/3/3 pilot on Bria and finding active SWs is a huuuuuge pain the butt because there are like a thousand shops and most are not active or have components of a quality I wouldn't want to stick in my ship. I mean, they obviously take SW as a cashflow type of thing and will just stick anything in there. The sad thing is, they sell on Bria.
So, not wanting to be someone that just complains I used the respec period to dump doctor... since it sucks... and have been a master SW for about three weeks. I do not have any vendors stocked because I am still going through the learning process and the stocking of resources. SW requires a ton of different resources. One thing I wont do is stock a component I wouldn't use in my own ships. Gravitonic Fiberplast is running at OQ 17 atm and the last run wasn't a whole lot better, I wont be making shields and other components that use it until something better comes along.
I've been doing some testing on experimentation and the like and even with the stuff I crit fail on it is still almost twice as good a quality as the stuff that I purchased off other SWs. So that gives you an indication of just how bad it is there.
i play also 10 h a week.
I used to run through galaxies, building harvesters, space mining, looting. Im tired of this because i lack of time.
Keeping my shop filled meansi should spend all my IG time working.
Now, i build a stock, and will craft comp. But, i take it easy lol
shoot me a tell...i've been making all sorts of special orders including several high mass TIEs/skyks/n other stuff
atm I do mostly custom orders and dont have a large stocked vendor...but i can make most stuff with the current resources i have...just can't make in bulk yet with the reserves i have
I did pretty much the same thing on Wanderhome. I was able to get going very quickly by stocking the asteroid stuff - the ships, cargo holds and mining lasers. I pretty much have a monopoly on that stuff on Wanderhome now. I stocked 17 or 18 of the high mass ships a couple days ago and sold out of all of them in about 20 hours. This has allowed me to buy the old high quality resources and be very competitive, and in many cases far superior to the old shipwrights. Now I've got a thriving business in which I can barely keep up, heh.

I think the main point here is that there are SW outta there, and very good ones, but most of them don't have a vendor due to the time it takes to have it stocked. Most of them WILL craft special orders tho, so if you're serious about piloting post in your trade forums asking for a SW that does custom orders. You'll get at least 3 or 4 replies of SW that DON'T have a vendor but will help you and at least half of them will craft better components than the ones you're used to.
They exist, but the lack of any meaningful storage or producing factory runs, really makes the whole proffesion very hard work.
I produce pretty much for myself and my guild atm.
Been SW since the thing came out...
I craft everyday and try and keep atleast two engines, reactors, weapons, shields and caps of each level from 3-9 on my vendor at all times. Boosters, armor and droid interfaces simply don't sell very well in my experience...too many use looted items. I only use resources w/ at least 900 OQ...which requires a lot of time shopping for a good deal. I've also taken to REing certain items, which also involves shopping and more time not crafting, since most pilots sell to the chassis dealer. Re prices are expensive, as I have to spend a lot of time finding the right loots to make an outstanding RE.
With that in mind, I have the resources to craft any item you may be looking for, if it is not on my vendor, send me an email with the stats you are looking for in the item. If it can be done, I'll craft it and hold on to it until you are able to meet at a major SP or in my shop. I'm not big on deliveries unless I have a relationship with the customer, as this is time that I could devote to crafting. If I put it on my vendor, it will be sold within a short time to someone else. All orders are completed within 24 hours (most, are within 12). My prices are simple, $10k for each crafting level for the item. $10k for level 1 stuff and $50k for level 9 stuff. Any item that has a critical failure in the crafting process either gets tanked or heavily discounted. Level 5 and level 7 stuff are the biggest sellers...so those are the hardest to keep in stock. New players don't have the money to buy crafted stuff until they get to around tier 3 in the pilot tree, so they use looted parts for the first few tiers. I don't stock any parts that require asteroid resources on my vendor (except heavy Ties & Z-95s), as I would prefer to use these expensive resources (40cpu) to complete orders...but I do have plenty of asteroid material in nstock for any order.
Simply put, look me up if you need something. I also RE for $5k the level of the items (Level 5=$25k, level 10=$50k). Hope this helps you out.
heh, like so many other posters here,i pretty much only do custom work now...
occasionally, on a wild hair, i stock my vendors... i'll spend hours crafting everything... and if i put them up as i work, they empty as fast as i can build...
at first i was a little upset about all the respec shipwrights coming in, getting credit for all the crafting changes (jeez, if they only knew what resources i put in that engine before the change just to get the YPR i got)... now, i'm glad... they do all the hard work, and get all the money... but i don't have to do it, and i can stick to what i prefer... custom jobs...
just like when JTL came out, everybody's a shipwright... eventually the need for mass production went away, and all the shipwrights that stayed did it for the custom work...
once everybody has their new ship, and new strakes, and new engine... it'll be back to what it was: fewer shipwrights, but more prominent shipwrights...

This Master Shipwright exists, but I've taken a break from active resource gathering and crafting because of the addition of RotW, and the changes brought about by the CU.
As it stands I've had to buy a BE-crafted set ofclothing with Melee and Ranged Defense modifiers, crates of BE crafted foods to enhance Melee and Ranged Defenses, and a crate of PSG's - so I can buzz around and survey/place/maintain harvesters. Yes, those additional costs are going to get passed on to my clients in the future.
With RotW, the best engine, most popular ships, and most powerful weapons are reward items. The majority of my requests come from people asking if I can RE their new loot.
We're out there, but in the case of this Shipwright it's Summer vacation time for a while before returning to the heavy crafting routine.
