Thread: How many of the new ships are constructed or results of quests only?

I am thoroughly annoyed, that the S/W the hardest profession to craft (on account of the excessive resources) has been well and truly dumped on.

I thought the point of the rebalance etc was to make some proffs more interesting and ecnourage players to craft, but I barely make a profit on my ships or droids, and I can't even respec my flipping character??

Come on wheres the love??

I think we're looking at this the wrong way. Yes, it'll change the nature of our profession a bit, but I think the Devs did things the way they did in order to get more people interested in space. This helps us in the long run.

Sorry, but I disagree.

Iftheplayerbasecan get 90-95% ofour 'good' space equipment from looting, then you will see a large amount of whining around "I can loot x, y, and z componenets, why not this one?" At that point the only thing SWs will be good for is REing, which most guilds will then have a SW alt just for that purpose (like most of the entertainers anymore... AFK Alts...).

Not trying to be negative, but I can't see limiting the player-based economy as a good thing for the long-term viability for any profession, not just SW

Iether its a player based economy, or it isnt.

If the most cool items andships can only be gotten by quest or drops, then basically the Shipwright profession is basicallydead.

Sigh. that was what I was afraid of.

I thought the Devs was making this game to be a Player Based economy. If this is the case, WHY are they cutting the Shipwright out ofthe loop on RotW?

Sure they needed quest rewards. Why couldnt the rewards be limited production schematics for Shipwrights like the Firespray?

Just one more jack-up for the crafters by the Devs.

Thanks alot.

I'm a master shipwright and I'm ok with this. Why should every player who buys the expansion have to PAY a shipwright to make their quest reward into something thats usable. There are currently 37 professions in the game. Only one is shipwright. Finding a master one isn't always easy.

with the problems that surrounded the introduction of the CU, I cancelled my accounts and my preorders for ROTW. I reinstated my accounts after I had my pre CU skills etc restored, but now only paying on a month by month basis.

As a master SW - I have now cancelled my accounts again. WHY oh why did me and my guild mates spend so much time in advance of JTL to gather the resources so that myself and 2 others could get to master SW on the same day JTL was launched - SW is a DEAD profession and a total waste of time. Looted and RE components in 90% of the time are better than craftable items. SO what is the point of being master SW ??

SOE - PAH - sorry I am not going to print the words or feelings I have that describe your arrogant stupidity towards your client base and get banned off the boards again - just so I will be able to post in weeks to come and LAUGH at your stupidity.

Truthfully, i think the only people that are happy about these new ships are JTL newbies.

From a pilots perspective, these ships suck because they have essentually made just about every ship pre ROTW obsolete. An Awing has about 4.4 yaw, pitch accerlration and 2.5 roll i think. A T/I or T/A has 5.2, 5.2 and 2.5 (or something like that. 50K and 65K mass chassis.

The new "heavies" (z95, syck, T/F) are 95K mass, and have 10.5 Yaw, 10.5 pitch, and like 5.2 roll or something like that. They have twice the mass, and twice the YPR. The icing on the cake is these ships (which are craftable btw) are certed for NOVICE pilots. For the professional pilot who engages in PvP, this is something of an outrage - our A wings and Ties are now garbage.

The Jedi starfighter, Greivies fighter, and i think the new RG T/I have similar stats to the heavy starter ships. (10.5,10.5 5.2) The heavy Xwing is .. well.. i dont have a word for the heavy xwing. Point is, not only can you not make these ship chassis (excepting heavy-starter ships), they are better then anything you CAN make. Most of our ships are now obsolecent, and i dont think anyone be they pilot or shipwright (or both), is happy about it.

Yeah, no joke, I'm an SS ACE and I've been struggling with mass issues vs. components for months now-----but here's the punchline------wait for it---------- IT'S FUN! It's a challenge.

Why doesn't SOE understand that? *shakes head*

P.S> Yeah and I'm ticked about having my tier 4 ship sales being decimated by these freebie shipsalso.

This armorsmith fully supports player made ships. Ships, weapons, and armor should have been schematics.

Have to agree here, 90% of the reason why I left SWG(Just came back for the CU)was because it was too dammed easy. I'm a Storm Squadron Novice in JTL and just solo'ed my first teir 3 mission. It took me about a week (And a non-loot, player crafted 74 TS engine, thanks shipwrights!) but it was fun as hell!

You guys really got the shaft on this expansion, maybe 1 ship should have been a rare hard to find deed(not found in 1 day like these deeds were), but not six or how many they made. I think the next expansion they should do should have about 12 new ship schematics for you guys.

I think the crafters best option on this is to demand Schematics on most of the new loot.
