lets not be too hard on bozo now...
it wasnt very nice of me to put out the teaser without being 100% certain i was gonna be able to post what i wanted to, so basically he's right...
it's a mistake i will not repeat, and sorry to get everyones hopes up :-p
Your forgiven styx. I knew what you ment when the teaser came. Didn't need to see the full statement to know what the dev was thinking anyways, but then again, i been here since day one, so i have the basic understanding of Devease.

the avenues of communication between corr and dev are not as fluid as one might think or hope. i wish this was different and have suggested it be addressed.
Wow, I can understand the NDA. However, you are the player correspondant. What's the point if they aren't going to utilize you as the conduit between the devs and us players?
You know, I don't like to say anything bad about SOE. I have been a professional software engineer for 22 years and fully understand the daunting task of developing and maintaining something this vast. However, SOE needs to wake up and realize that there are other companies doing it better. I have a friend playing World of Warcraft that related an interesting story to me. Apparently they were having a horrible time with lag and customers were complaining bitterly to Blizzard. Finally, Blizzard made an announcement one day that they will have the problem fixed in 24 hours or everyone would receive a free year. Now, I have to play devil's advocate here and realize that they probably were hot on the trail of the problem when they made said announcement. However, the point I'm trying to make is that Blizzard is at least creating a perception of doing it better. Many of my friends are letting their SWG subscriptions lapse and trying new games, like WOW. I personally have little interest in trying any other games. I play SWG because it is Star Wars. However, I would hate to look up one day and find that there isn't anyone to play with anymore because they had all moved on ![]()

If you wanted a postive response, you could have posted one yourself instead of posting a juvenile, self-centered, self-righteousrant.

Heres a rant for you, the people that play this game should but do not get any form of information on WHY the devs choose to make shipwright the only profession in the game that doesn't get mass factory support. We've asked for this information since beta, nothing. While the home schooled 12 year olds that enjoy sitting on there computers for 12 hours a day hand crafting this stuff sit back and chuckle because since they have no life outside of this game they dominate the market.

So after 7 full days with no word from you at all, and this Factory Focus thread leading no where... I would like some answers from you. In the thread I just mentioned I'd like to know why you 'teased' us with the below quote.
Care to be a correspondent yourself?
7 days.... maybe something happened out of game to prevent Styx from posting? (I know it isn't this, but it could have been)
Besides, limited factory support is perfectly fine, but that's for another thread.Message Edited by Doo-Boo on 12-11-2004 08:29 PM

I'm actually a 34 year old married man with a mortgage and a full time job, 6 or 7 days in the summer months. I don't mind hand crafting at all, and I have no need to dominate a market. I just don't need to sell hundreds and hundreds of items to be content with my business. How many items do you need to sell in a day to warrant full factory support? If you don't have the time to hand craft items, become a specialist within the profession, or do only custom orders.
One point I bring up for no added factory support is that a Shipwright can't make a schematic for 1000 Mark IV Durasteel plating. Why is this good? Because you can't hand over this schematic to a non crafter and let them manufacture 1000 Durasteel Plating for themselves. This makes all players fully dependent on the Shipwright for each item. I don't want to become a schematic machine!
If you want intelligent, mature correspondence then you need to change the way you present yourself. You sound like an angry child being denied his sucker.
There was an open poll of shipwrights and the majority of us DO NOT want broad factory support. The more you rail about it the more you... well... see above.
I, for one, don't have as much time to play the game as I would like, but I still think that Shipwright is a better profession for NOT having the shortcut of factories churning out ships and components.
