Shipwright Archive
Thread: The patches are slowly chipping away at the viability of SW.
I've heard it all now. Do you USE the program? I'd rather have that singular program than have millions in sales as a master shipwright. I do just fine without selling capacitors.
If I didn't have that program, my new ship would hardly be worth flying.

Its just pretty simple though, Im a master shipwright, and I use all looted items, except for the reactor, and the armor panels. You dont see something wrong with that?

Wasted mass, I dont use missles. When you have 3 guns, 2 of which do 3900, and you are about to RE a 4th thats going to hit 4600 damage and .78 vs sheild and armor, you dont need them.
As for countermeasures, meh missles are not launched enough to be a concern. I can eat a high tier missle without too much worry.

I disagree with you here 100%. I have 2 master pilots, and Im 150k away from a master shipwright. Want to know what stops me from using a shipwright made capacitor? They are inferior. Want to know what stops me from using a shipwright engine? They are inferior. Add in the overloads though, and you are set. Experiment P/Y/R a bit more than speed, use engine overload 3, and you have a maneuverable replaceable engine.
The REAL problem with shipright? No reason for people to be in space other than making money at master. No content, no strong tie to the ground game. JTL will pass as a wonderfull novelty, not as a must have expansion. Already space participation is slowing WAY down. People are done with it and returning to the ground game as it has nothing to offer.
Wow! Finally, someone comes out and says it. Let me elaborate on this concept.
The notion of PvP in space was intriguing when I thought that all engagement in space was going to be non-consential. The devs went and screwed this up though, because the space aspect of the game follows all the same rules for PvP established for the ground game, and we all know how screwed up this is. What were the devs thinking when they went and used a broken model (that they knew they were going to revamp) for the space?
In addition, I had a BH when JTL came out. I thought it would be cool to hop around the galaxy looking for my bounties in a ship. Then I discovered that there was no way to track a bounty in space. The big joke at the time was that Jedi were going to resort to earning their XP in space so as to escape BHs, but many Jedi are so wrapped up in their grind that this little point seems to have escaped them.
However, JTL isn't just a novelty, it is a must have expansion. You know why? So you never have to wait for an interplanetary shuttle again. However, you can do all that with the lousy starter ship they give you.
Ever think the point of JtL was FUN?
Think maybe that was it's purpose? Not so you can "get uber loot" or "travel for free?"
What happened to the cool gamers of old that were happy to just be playing? When did everyone start whining so much?
