Thread: Upgradeable/Hyperdrive Starter Ships and NO damage/decay from Space PvP??????

Then they should bump up the mass of player crafted to 20-30k. Not that a tier 0 or 1 pilot could fill that with parts, but it would make player crafted tier 0 ships usable beyond tier 1. When I was leveling rebel pilot, I would have been very happy to have an agile 30k mass Z-95 instead of being stuck in a ywing "flying brick" until tier 3.

Because of this change, I'm no longer selling Mark1 components or novice ship chassis. Hell, why dont they just give every starting player (JTL or not) a free speeder?

I have no problem with PvP not doing any permanent damage to ships. I like that its consistent with ground-based PvP.


Upgradeable starter ships, though, makes every basic ship deed that I can craft worthless. So now, I have to contend with the inability to craft with factories, PLUS a lot of loot being better than what we can craft, PLUS one complete Tier of deeds being worthless...

I'm not even a SW and I think the starter ships being made upgradeable is the stupidest idea yet. Starter ships are EASILY accessible for 6k credits from really any bazaar terminal you go to. I have no idea of the logic behind this.


Are the devs trying to intentionaly kill the SW profession?

Well, I have to agree with the starter ship. However, the change regarding no decay during PvP has precedent; if you die in the ground game during PVP (and even factional PvE), you don't experience decay.

Upgradable starterships? Its not really going to hurt shipwrights that much. I've sold a vast majority more tier1 and tier2 chassis than I ever sold starter ships. The starterships don't use enough resources to justify grinding with. And most shipwrights were dumping them on the bazaar for 6k anyways. I dont see the loss of the tier0 chassis as a big deal.


And regarding no decay for death in deepspace. Its already far too easy to die in PvP. With no insurance, and 10% decay on death, you would see people needing to buy new ships every 10 PvP deaths? That is just crazy.


I see both changes being benifical to JTL as a whole. I see it as a good thing that pilots are not100% dependent in shipwrights. (Unlike the ground game where players are 100% dependent on med buffs). And I play a master shipwright.

Starter ships, ok...I agree with SW for a slightly different reason. Starter Ships should be limited to the System they are in, period. I did up to 1100 in my starter ship easily, and even if I did it over would not bother investing in a Player made Tier 0 ship. *shrug* My starter worked just fine for that. However, giving people the ability to travel around and see stuff? That is the ONLY reason to buy a Tier 0, and a valid one. Not valid for me as I had my Yacht, but still valid for n00bs.


Decay, You want PvP decay. Yeah, I can see that, except I have not looted a descent Capacitor since the loot nerf went into effect. Do I really want my Cap to degrade even more...not really thanks. Do I care if my Chassis, SW made guns, reactor, etc. decay? Hell no! As long as I can replace what I have at the simple expense of Creds, who cares *shrug*


But then again this is the same reason I hated PvP decay on the ground. Why bother spending big creds on CA and especially AA if they are only going to last a few fights anyway? No point.


The thing is to find the balance, and SOE has been notoriously bad at being able to do that.


As for cost, I have no problem paying 10k-100k (level appropriate) for getting a SW to RE my components. I supply components, you supply to tools, and time, and expertise, I pay. Pretty simple to me.
