i SO forgot to mention this from my grind this morning. so i will sayit now before too much damage is done. donot usethe crafting macro.

shipwrights do not loose resources to a crit failure, however if u use the macro u WILL loose that resource. i didnt figure this out ( i didnt even notice) until i was 1111 shipwright. i grinded the rest by hand and probabaly saved 500k resources. crits happen alot folks so dont use those macros!!

You can still use a macro, just get rid of the practice noitem.

Saves you clicks - but if you are above novice, you also want to avoid the macro but for the reason of being able to experiment on your product.

I didn't know you could crit fail with practice noitem. Anyone confirm that? That would be quite significant as removing that will create an inventory item which means you'd have to break the macro to empty your inventory.

wel i can confirm it sine i lost probably 50k of steel to it.

edit: it wont say crit fail btw, it will just keep going but no timer willbe on the crafting tool. thats why i didnt notice it cause i was listening to music and crafting and didnt look at my tool bar imemditly.

Btw, this crit fail thing applies to all crafting profs, not just SW. It appears to have been changed (intentionally or unintentionally) in the pre-patches leading up to JTL.

I know nobody will be surprised, but that's a bug that has been in the game for several months now. While using a macro, you click on all your resources to put them into the schematic, and after the macro runs through, there is no timer on the crafting kit, all of the resources you put in will disappear, and you will get no experience from the attempt. Most crafting classes grind on things that don't eat up metric tons of resources per attempt, so they probably don't make a lot of noise when this happens to them, but with Shipwrights using such massive amounts of resources, it's time for people tostart making more noise about it.

Heres a little thing i found recently when grinding tailor.

I have proven, with exstensive research, that the experience bonus for experimentation has been removed. I know it was there before (while grinding architect) but it is no longer there anymore. This does make it easier to do other things wwhile crafting, though.

Wouldn't an easy fix be to simply put in a pause on your macro so that you can see what's happened and unload them (since the macro will soon move on)?

Now, it won't be the rapid double-click--double-click--double-click--double-click--double-click, but you will still only have to double-click and then look to see if it failed and pull the ingredients out if it did.

When you have a critical on assembly you always loose you inserted ingredients, except for Architecture ingredients. This is not new, has always been this way (except for the architecture bonus which was invented this year). When crafting with macro you have as many crits as without, you are just not interrupted in your crafting when doing it with macro. The resources will be gone, you get to exp and the tools does not try to produce the thing, weather you use a macro or not.
Btw., you get less crits at a good crafting station while using good tools, so best get a +40 station and 15 tools, and you will have less problems.
