Im a new shipwright, only 3/0/0/2, and i opened my shop about a week or two ago. So far, i have made very few sales

I am also merchant 1/0/0/0 and an ace pilot. I reverse engineer whatever I can and sell it on my vendors. I have a very good selection of ship chasis on my vendor, and a good selection of armor and some blasters too. I would like to ask some questions to those of you who have sucessful shipwright businesses.

How far along in shipwright were you when you started to make a lot of money?

How many merchant skills did you have?

Did you have to spam endlessly at a major starport?

What were best selling items at the time?

What were your prices?

Where were you located?

Thank you very much

Always intrested in helping........so I'll try.

How far along in shipwright were you when you started to make a lot of money? Most of my cash come from my "partner" buisness, droids....Astromechs, programmable chips, flight computers....but SW is definitely picking up.

How many merchant skills did you have? Master Artisan with Merchant 0-4-3-4

Did you have to spam endlessly at a major starport? Never have, never will

What were best selling items at the time? for me, Astromechs, flight computers, chassis (not so much now), RE'd items, Weapons, Reactors, Boosters, and lately, Capacitors, and consumables (texture kits, missle packs, etc)

What were your prices? Probably amongst the lowest on my server

Where were you located? Tent One-Brenn,Naboo (Shadowfires largest merchant city), Tent 15-Mos Vegas, Tatooine

How far along in shipwright were you when you started to make a lot of money?

I blew a wad of credits and mastered SW before opening a store.

How many merchant skills did you have?

None. I had Artisan 4/0/4/0 and built my merchant skills from there.

Did you have to spam endlessly at a major starport?

I tried it once and realized the true futility of it. I got better results posting on the trade forums for my server.

What were best selling items at the time?

My best selling items are chassis and RE'd components.

What were your prices?

1 - 1.5 CPU for the resources in my products + 10% profit. I am one of the lowest-priced SW's on Kettemoor.

Where were you located?

Insurgo, Naboo on Kettemoor. A quiet player city, but people are starting to come from across the galaxy to buy from me, based upon word of mouth. I am located in a rebel city but probably more than half of my patrons are imperials who come to buy my wares.

I hope that helps. Keep the faith, turn out a good product at a reasonable price... post on the forums for your server and people will come to you.

Cheers,

How far along in shipwright were you when you started to make a lot of money?

I believe I'm the first master shipwright to hit Bria. I mastered it on Oct 26th, 30 minutes after server went up. I didnt make allot of money at that day, but the following day on the 27th, I made a ton of money.

How many merchant skills did you have?

Master Merchant.

Did you have to spam endlessly at a major starport?

No, I never spam.

What were best selling items at the time?

Chassis, and the major components

What were your prices?

I've always charged 4cpu for chassis

Where were you located?

Outside Bestine.. Its always been my location.

The big "pilot" craze has calmed down. SW sales arent going to be what they were.Keep in mind that thereare allot of low ballers on the market that sell really cheap. Those people dont stick around for very long, so its best to wait them out. Above all, have fun.

How far along in shipwright were you when you started to make a lot of money?

Mastered before opening vendors, also ensured we crafted a good selection of starting stock in order to open with full vendors

How many merchant skills did you have?

Master Merchant

Did you have to spam endlessly at a major starport?

No,have never spammed at starports,Placed a barker droid on occassion at Theed but never with any regularity

What were best selling items at the time?

Pretty much everything to be honest! Ordanance, paint kits, counter measures(consumables) always a good seller.Imperial ship chasis seem popular(Curse the evil oppressors!)

What were your prices?

Varies considerably depending on the item being sold. Anything from 1000 credits for a consumable right up to the 1 million credits we charge for master chasis.Components and Chasis etc are priced at a fix value per level, giving consistent prices

Where were you located?

Theed Mall(Chimeara server, about a 15 second bike ride from Theed Starport, perhaps the most shopped Mall on the server)

How far along in shipwright were you when you started to make a lot of money? In the state of the game atm you really need max experiment points for the necessary quality in the items u make - row 4 at least in the column ur crafting

How many merchant skills did you have? Planetary advertising & merchant tents skills are the only necessary ones

Did you have to spam endlessly at a major starport? Spamming is lame - a droid and a 10min message on the auction channel never hurts

What were best selling items at the time? Armor, blasters, shields, engines, missles & launchers

What were your prices? See below, equates to 20 cpu, but my resources are effectively the best to spawn on server to my knowledge. 8 cpu for missles/CM's

Where were you located? South coronet, but lively player towns are a good bet too...

Thank you very much

I realize you're probably selling the chassis you are grinding out as you master shipwright, yes? While this isn't a bad idea, chassis are the unfortunate scapegoat product for undercutters. Resource quality doesn't make much difference for chassis, so you have some people mass-producing chassis a 2cpu and less.

Personally I wouldn't go into commercial production of ship components until you reach master. There are a lof of reasons, mainly a lot of pilots are seeking out the best wares possible. You'll need every experimentation point you can get your hands on. Second, ship parts do require lots of resources. Making ship parts before master might be a waste, depending on how rare shipwrights are in your neighborhood.

How far along in shipwright were you when you started to make a lot of money?

Master; I saved up mass amounts of resources before the patch and got to master 1 week after JTL release. I didn't save my chassis because I knew they wouldn't sell. I opted instead for the %5 practice bonus.

How many merchant skills did you have?

If you want to run a successful business you must be able to register on the map. 3/0/0/0 is a neccessity. You can market through the galaxy trade forums and a barker droid, but it's hard work without merchant 3/0/0/0.

Did you have to spam endlessly at a major starport?

When I first started out I had a barker droid parked at Theed. When you first open your shop you need to do this anyway. The faster you introduce people to your place of business the better. Now I don't have to send my barker out anymore.

What were best selling items at the time?

Ship components: reactors, armor (lite and heavy versions), shield generators, engines, weapons (limiters, max-dam), droid interfaces. HOWEVER, you must use high quality resources to make ship parts that are better than loot. If you don't have a good resource stock to work with, get some or don't bother making ship parts. People will seek out quality for ship parts, if you make junk people will pass you by.

What were your prices?

I charge 17-18 cpu

Where were you located?

900m from theed starport

Thank you very much

How far along in shipwright were you when you started to make a lot of money? Basically at Master level

How many merchant skills did you have?
My merchant skills have been 3004

Did you have to spam endlessly at a major starport?
Spam causes indigestion so I don't partake in it.

What were best selling items at the time?
Ship Armor. This product got me many leads.

What were your prices?

Components I price by Mark Level: 5k, 10k, 20k, 35k, 70k. Weapons are the same scale. Missiles, countermeasures are 10cpu. Ship chassis are on request and vary based on resources used.

Where were you located? My original location was my house outside of Moenia between the city and the Narglatch Cave. Global advertising brought in my business. Some prominent players frequented my shop and ask me to relocate to their mall. I now have three shops, one outside of Coronet, one outside of Theed, and one in my player city on Tattoine, Ft Krayt.
