every one i see is chargeing way to less and not makeing any money and then quit SW or run out of buissnes and quit then theres me i try to sell my stuff for resonable prices wile trying to turn a profit then theres the guy next door thats loseing money and makeing me lose buissness i think its time to stop and we can all make more money if we charge what we should. Then i wont have people asking me to lower my prices cause there to high when there not at all to high there perfect even a steal.

There has been alot of discussion of the Shipwright profession, what people charge, and thedifferent buisness practices. It's actually a good insight on the community as a "whole", I would recommend you read it.

You speak of your "competition" as losing money at least 3 times in your post. If this in fact the true, then I don't see what you have to worry about. You said it yourself, they "quit SW or run out of buisness". When they are gone, you will still be there. All you have to do is "wait" them out. Doesn't sound like much of a problem.

You sound like you are one of the more experienced SW around if others have quit, and more are just "up and coming"
Why not focus on the "high end" stuff......cater to the upper echelon pilots, they are always looking for "uber" parts, and are willing to pay handsomely for it.
Sounds like you need to find a "niche"........find something in SW you are particularly good at, and focus on that. If what you make is good, you'll attract pilots that can afford "higher' prices.....and are more than willing to pay it.

I agree completely, wait them out, they are dropping like flies on Gorath. Gather your good resources and when the masses are gone you will be standing on top of the pile.

Is it just me or is there no decline in SWs on Eclipse? When I display all registered vendors around the major towns there are tons of them. I guess that's why I hardly sell anything anymore.
The posting linked above was exactly the one I read when I got into the SW business and I'm glad I found good advice there.

I love the SW profession.. I mastered it on Oct 26th, way before allot of people had JTL in their hands.... Yes, there are allot of people charging way to little just to make a sale. I've decided to craft very little shipwright parts and components for the next couple of months so I can wait out some of the low ballers. I was in one shop and this person hadYT-1300's for 150k, and was also selling resources at 3-4cpu, its ridiculous. I purchased the 5 YT's he had and placed them on my vendor for 600k. 2 of them sold 3 hours later lol.

1. Stick with your pricing. (provided it's not way too high)
2. Let them make the chassis for that price. You get to save resources for making components, weapons, missiles, etc. If a pilot wants a chassis from you, do it on request, specify your price, only use the best resources when you make a special order like this. The pilots know what a good mass is for a particular ship and will reward you for making a ship with the mass they need. A 101.5k mass X wing will beat out, and be appreciated by the pilot, the 2 cpu grind chassis with under 100k mass.
3. REMAIN WELL STOCKED!!!!! If you aren't always stocked, people will go elsewhere. Take the time to maintain a large selection. 4 of every Mark item, weapon, missile, etc should keep you stocked. If one item doesn't stay stocked with 4, bump your stock on that item to 8 or more.

What items are you selling other than paint kits? I am going to assume chassis?
Selling chassis is the best way to go out of business. There have been sooooo many SW's who have experienced this firsthand and switched to selling parts. So stop production of chassis altogether, or you will be forced to sell at a loss just to get chassis off your shelves. Don't bother making ammo unless you have the resources to waste, and the ability to cut prices- people don't like paying a lot of $$ for ammo.
If you're selling chassis, STOP. Make ship parts instead- best sellers are reactors, armor, weapons, shields, droid interfaces and engines. Make sure you make them with subcomponents and good resources, charge appropriately to cover materials/overhead/effort. I suggest you stockpile some high conductivity/high OQsteel when it spawns. You will pee through it fast, so get at least 1mil of it.
90% of the shipwrights that I have seen complain about undercutting are selling chassis. That is the only SW product where people can get away with undercutting because the resrouce quality doesn't make much difference for chassis. This makes the chassis market = the vehicle patch all over again where artisans got screwed up the butt with no vaseline. Don't repeat history- say no to chassis!

I try to keep at least one type of chasis on my vendor they don't sell very quickly but they're there I also seem to sell a fair few missiles and launchers and chaff packs (but I can do factory runs of those)
but my high end reactors and sheilds do seem to fly off the vendor (even my guns) although I have now run out of my high end resources so I'm in the middles of collecting more.
One of the big problems I see (and have experienced) is that a lot of these vendors have looted items in them and never the item you are shopping for. So eventually after going around to about 30 different vendors looking for a missile pack (in my case) you give up.
So In my vendor I stock at least one of all chasis and a couple of the all the other parts if something sells I will make another one just so if someone comes along I don't want them to leave empty handed because it's very frustrating.

I sell about 1 chassis a day (and keep 1 of each type on my vendors), and I price them at ~3cpu, which gives a decent profit. And usually they buy the whole set for the ship (all components, maybe some missiles/chaffs).
