I was thinking today on a good suggestion for these. The new POB parts have definetly increased the viability of POB ships in the game. I think 1 more part would be a GREAT addition to the POB line-up.


Ithink it's time for POB Munitions Launchers/Packs!


I was thinking of overall game mechanic, and I think the best way would be to keep the damage on par with the current best packs (I.E. damage simillar to Proton Mark IV, Space Bomb Mark II, Concussion Mark III etc) but increase the maximum ammuntion on those! I would say 30 max on the missiles, and 10-12 max on the bombs (this is if you max the ammunition line in the crafting process. I would suggest a min of 5 bombs per pack and 15 on missiles). A damage bump might be good, but not by too much since you would have substantialy more ammo. (maybe 10%-20% over current bests).


I think this would add to there viablilty since the Pilots of these vessels only have those to rely on in combat (unless you want to add a forward firing gun hardpoint :smileyhappy. It's sort of a realism type thing as well. Modern day fighters CAN carry 1000lb bombs, but are limited by wieght constraint (due to fuel consumption), but there Bomber counter parts can carry 50 or more (depending on the bomber).


Any thoughts?

That's a good point. I can see larger packs as cool for sure. Bigger ship, holds more ammo. It makes sense. I think I'd prefer to see them loadable from space though if I had to choose between more ammo vs load in space. If you could load them up from the POB's armory hold or something rather than just have more ammo per pack, I'd prefer that.

Easier game mechanic though to add the part, rather than adding the in space reload feature to the ship. Just a "copy/paste" of current values for current high level parts, then a tweek of the data value.

also more realistic that way. Bombers dont "resupply" midair with bombs they have in a hold :-)

But ships at sea do, which is what I lean towards thinking of when I think of POB's. Still they are kinda like bombers too.

I think these were to be more like a Bomber style ship. Like a high tech b-29 (flying forttress, no forward guns, but good turret placement and a high bomb capacity). I was checking the math and you might even go as high as50 on the missile packs and 20 on the space bombs. With a slight (10-20%) damage increase (maybe even as much as 25%) I don't really think this would be a "Game Breaker", but it would make the pilot more useful on the POB, anmd I think increase the "Fun factor" on them as well. Not to mention this would be a VERY easy add-in to the game.

And besides, ships at sea are generally a Multi-role lighter aircraft, than a long range bomber. Not enough capacity for that role (you might be able to make an E2-C hawkeye size bomber for an aircraft carrier). Bu they still don't re-arm in flight, they have to land to do so. Maybe along that role you could offer in space re-arming through the various space stations (like the rebel in space reload, but stationary)

in regard to the ships, I mean the actual ship not the aircraft it carries

Now, a fully loaded decimator could fire off say atleast 16 spacebombs with over 20k dmg each at something. If we increase that to packs of 20, that's 80 shots at 20k dmg+. I know it would take awhile to fire off that many, but that is a lot of firepower without having to reload.

and by the way, I'm not bashing the idea, I'd love to see this in pob only stuff. I'm just looking at all the angles

Actually said at fanfest pob ships should of had the ability to reload in space in the begginning they were no aware of the problom

Well, carefull with that quote, there might have been a decision made back in the drawing room that this dev was not aware of. I've heard that statement, but I've not heard a word from the developers since saying that it should be in game now or not.
