Thread: What does being a big head (ithorian) get you?

I am asking because I am a spike headed fellow. As MSW what advantages will my Ithorian counterparts have over me?

Ithorians receive +10 to Chassis, Power Systems, Shields, and Advanced Assembly (capacitors and droid interfaces), while Sullustans receive +10 to Boosters, Engines, and Weapons Systems.

In other words, a slightly higher chance of getting amazing successes when experimenting chassis (probably armor too), reactors, shields, capacitors, and droid interfaces. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's the same bonus you get from an inspiration buff or from crafting in a research center.

I thought assembly was the process that comes before experimentation. This would help avoid critical failures at lower levels, but at master does this make any real difference? Am I missing something?

Correct.

Assembly mods don't help with your experimentation, that is what Experimentation mods are for.

Assembly mods have no reason at all right now, since you don't lose resources on a critical failure and amazing successes yield the same result than great successes (assembly wise, that is)

This is a big reason why I wish I had just gone human instead of Ithorian.

While Ithorians are interesting, and pseudo-rare.. they're more than a bit of a pain to shop for.

You gotta admit that ithorians get the coolest hats though.

Ithorians get: the ladies.

Totally.

Of course, I'm a fishie and we get the ladies too. But then all SW's get 'em. They're like uh... Never mind.

So as a suggestion, find a tailor on vendor search that can make 4 socket items and offer them 100k to build you a set of duds. You'll be pleasantly surprised at how nice they are to you.

It's all gone. And so am I.

Um, yes they do!

Every time you run an experiment your assembly mod is used to calculate the result. More assembly = higher chance of amazing success with each experiment. Experimentation mods are about how many points you get to experiment with, assembly mods are about how good those experiments will be.

If you want to see the difference, using a normal crafter with no tapes, make any item in an NPC city and note the experimentation successes you get. Then do the same in a player city with research centre speciality and try drinking some Bespin Port too.

The difference in stats between an item manufactured with 10 (or 15 if you're a SW) moderate successes and 10 amazing successes can be huge.
