Hey all-

Want to know what the best current resources are for Shipwright? Well, now you can find out with a couple mouse clicks and no thought whatsoever! (God knows that helps me, heh)

Anyway, it basically will take the data output from swgcraft and look through it and find the best possible *current* resource for everything we can make...for instance, for armor reinforcement panels, it will list best 'regular' steel and crystallized bicorbantium-- along with the associated percentage that would be 'good' for crafting (e.g., calculating HR and UT percentages for that resource).

EDIT: Last update 4 September. Jus' been adding new profs, small fixes (mostly to those prof's respective data files)

Very cool man, I've been meaning to do something similar to this myself, just haven't found the time.


I know that swgcraft exports its data every hour or so it says. There are other sites that use this data, but I must admit your's is more of what I was looking for. It could use a little work, and I'd be happy to make suggestions if your interested.

Thanks. Ok, got the update part to work, I just wasn't thinking, once I pulled my head out of my ..um... hat, I was able to do it no problem

Any suggestions now on making it easier to navigate would be wonderful, I know it's not clean, but it *does* work, and I think it even will match how resource quality is used in crafting. I'd been looking for something like this, to tell me what the best current resource is for any given schematic...but when all else fails, write your own! heh.

Right now it's a nasty script, I'll prolly clean it up and actually use subroutines next time . If anyone wants a copy of the script, PM me and I'll be glad to hand it out. This script will work with *ANY* crafting profession, I just need the hard data for the schematics and percentages (like 50% OQ and 50% PE, etc)...though I doubt I'll bother trying to extend it until it's 'prettier'.

Functionality is key!

I'd probably start by having the resources stats listed, and perhaps an option to look at the resources that came in second? third?

Another good thing to know is when the resources spawned.

if you select 'show all' from the main link, it will show the percentages (from schematic requirements) multiplied by what that stat is on the resource. I'll have to do some adding to get it to display what that stat is though (oq, pe, etc). I wanted to stay away from stats that did not effect the schematic at all though, but if enough want them, it's easy to show the rest too, just more modification.

For finding which resources are 'second' and 'third', etc, also, use the 'show all' option, it will show all resources that would work for that part, followed by the numbers (listed above) and values that calculate correspondingly. hrm, maybe i'll add more links to switch between the two if you're looking at 'best only' and want to see what others are available, that should be easy to add also.

as for timeframe, easy, just gotta have time. i'll add that too when i can.

though i couldn't reproduce the problem (I updated the server data first might be why) i think i found out what that problem was -- it's *possible* to have a resource that it tries to find the value for but that has no stats (say if someone marked a resource as available but without stats on swgcraft.com) - basically it considers thost stats '0' --> so I added a check to change that to 0.01 in that case. the values won't be '0' but they'll be so low you won't want to use it anyway, until stats are updated

also, I want to add the ability for the script to go down the 'resource tree' -- like asking for inert petro it will automatically search for polymer and lubricating oil, instead of me having to hard code that in. it will also fix the 'problem' that high grade polymetric is not found as a valid radioactive (because swgcraft doesn't use 'radioactive' in the name...i guess i made the script too 'dumb' heh)

couple minor fixes:

fixed a problem with 33/66 percentages and slight errors in values (ratio was still correct, but was subtracting 33 or 66 from 100, leaving 67 or 34, just added a couple significant digits to increase veracity).

added missle packs and countermeasure packs. countermeasures will have the problem of 'metal' being incorrectly found until i implement the resource tree structure, as it looks for 'metal' in name, not as a parent-type.

any suggestions for improvement(/bugs you find) would be appreciated

Major update on functionality:

Now sorts through resource tree from SWGCraft -- fixes issue where inert petro wouldn't find both 'polymer' and 'lubricating oil' -- and 'radioactive' wouldn't find high grade polymetric (and others). Results are a bit easier to read now, as it only lists hits based on what's needed (instead of seperate sections for the above issues like listing 'polymer' and 'lubricating oil' when only one is needed. now just lists all inert petro in one section)

Added CSS to clean up look a bit. Let me know if it bothers you, I can increase font again a little, just wanted the table of schematics list to be cleaned up some, I think it's better now.

So, let me know if you guys come up with any obvious errors, I quasi-gutted the old loop and implemented a new hash, but hopefully all 'result' errors are now gone, it looks that way from my testing anyway.

It's a little slower now, but not really noticeable, but there's *another* nested loop, heh.

As always though, any suggestions for improvement are most welcome. My next step is to separate the listings to separate pages, so not *everything* is listed at once, while still leaving the option to list all)...

Quick question for anyone that might know:

On a resource, is it possible to have a stat 'exist' (be listed when examining) but actually have a value of zero instead of above zero? I've seen single digit stats before, but never zero. If this *is* a possibility, someone please let me know, as I might have to do some changes to the site.

I've been a crafter since the game launched, and I've never seen a resource with a stat of zero. I've contributed resource informationto swgcraft.com enough to feel pretty confident in saying that I don't think it's possible.
