Thread: Are my prices fair?

Hello, I recieved an email from a client saying that my 110k price per Tier 1 chassis was too much, and he saw a vendor selling for 75k. So I wonder, are my prices too high? I charge 7cpu for chassis and 11cpu for components, (sometimes I add like 10k to the cpu price)so:

30k per novice ship.
110k per tier 1 ship
250k per tier 2 ship and 310k for good experimentations.

2.5k for novice components
6k for tier 1 components
(all I can make yet).

What do you say?

Once again... someone who doesn't think about the whole process. If you "do it all yourself", then you have 3 profit returns.

The harvester makes a profit.

The crafter makes a profit.

The merchant makes a profit.

The fact that these are all 3 the same person doesn't change the fact that there are still 3 income sources involved here. If you want to give away 2/3 of your profit, that's your business. At least you're not paying them to take the ships, like those folks selling chassis blueprints on the world bazaar.

Hence my second example -- which you so conveniently forgot to quote -- of how much profit I would make if I bought the stuff instead. My post illustrated thinking about the whole process. Your tone sounds a bit flamey btw...that intended?

first off all your prices for ships are not to low.

for components i would say kinda to low

some might sell lower, but they cant keep up on long run. cause well if they mine themself, you cant ever get enough out of the ground to produce alot constantly cause the resourcre use is simply very high (the x-server lot trade jerks might can tho, but them i dislike at all. for me thats an exploit and not intended plus totally unfair to all others).

do NOT make same mistake many architects made and now architect economy is totally on the ground (cpu wise and compared with all other crafters)

always keep in mind

- that you have to sepnds alot time to get resources, plus to craft the items.

- also that a adv. fighter profession can rip in easy on dantooine janta missions 30k in 5 mins. period

- same persons loot adhensive, janta blood, crystals and janta hide etc and sell it for millions (with no overhead costs)

- you spend valuable skillpointsfor craft skills which prevent you from skilling fighter professions like others (aka you cant get on that way same amount money as them from mission)

- and pure resources sell from 2 to 10cpu (average on metals) on the market, so a finished product has to bring more then that or you dont even should bother crafting, just sell the pure resources (all other is a real minus, even when some non businessmen claim they make a profit/kinda short sighted then)

do not give away all for nothing cause some ppl dont get it what is business

Well, if he'd really found it on another vendor at 75k, why didn't he buy it instead of pinging you? I suspect he was trying to see if he could trick you into giving him even more of a discount.

FYI, you're prices are 33% lower than mine... and I'm selling out left, right and sideways.

If it's quality resources used, I'm selling chassis at around 11cpu. Components are running closer to 20cpu. I don't use a direct cpu conversion... depends on how specific the resource call is for my pricing structure.

Just FYI...

If it calls for "mineral" I set base of 2cpu. "metal" would be 3cpu. "Steel" would be 4cpu. "Duranium Steel" would be 5cpu, etc. From there, I figure total resource cost/value. Wholesale price is then 3x. I sell chassis at wholesale, period. Components are priced wholesale (3x) in crates (or to guildies), or priced retail (5x) for single purchases.

So far, the only thing that doesn't clear out faster than I can make it is starter-ship chassis.

I mined by own stuff or bought it for 1-2cpu, and so I felt 5cpu was a fair price for it. I stocked my vendor as I was grinding, and managed to get like 250 ships on there of all types aside from the master level. Since I payed so little I felt that 5cpu was a huge markup, and even felt a bit guilty till I saw other people's prices that payed 3-5cpu for grinding quality. I'm confident that I could secure mining contracts for worst case 3cpu and even have them delivered to my vendor. In a few hours time I could craft and restock the chassis vendor with 5-7 million worth of resources, and then just kick back and watch the 10mill - 14mill profit tick in over the following days. Thats alot of money for a few hours work. Even if I buy at 4cpu, its still 5-7mill profit...for 2 max 3 hours labor!

If they want quality resources its a whole nother ballgame. But then its a custom order and the customer will pay more for both the resources and my time.

Your prices are fine, if anything your component prices are low.

Don't worry about someone arguing with you about your price. Just thank him for his interest and go about your business. From my own experience, must people don't blink over the price of ships. Of course, you always get the guy who wants you to make him a Dunelizard for 5k or an A-Wing for 125k , but don't sweat them.

My prices are pretty cheap, I think anyways. Mind you I'm also only 4200 SW (7 exp. points) right now grinding my way up as I pull up the steel needed.

Novice: 15k
Teir 1: 75k
Teir 2: 150k

That's as far as I'm willing to go until I hit master. But they are already selling. I put up 2 vendors for chassis so far. One for Imp, 1 for Privateer with the Rebel one going up tonight. In the 2 days since my first vendor went up and it was registered on the planetary map, I've made a few sales. Not bad considering I'm just starting out.

I started off selling ours at

Tier 1: 60k

Tier 2: 120k

By the time i'd gotten Tier 3 upwards I had to hike the prices to cover resource price increases, so now I sell as follows:

Tier 1: 75k

Tier 2: 150k

Tier 3: 300k

Tier 4: 400k

Master: Order Only

Components:

Mk1: 2k

Mk2: 5k

Mk3: 10k

Mk4: 25k

Master: 50k

Not had a single complaint about pricing and I don't expect to - but at the same time it brings in what I consider a fair profit

Im buying at 3 cpu and selling 5. So compared to me your pricces are a little high. HOWEVER... Im not selling anything at all. My vendors havent been touched, im getting no tells for ship orders. But if your selling your selling and thats what matters.

I sell looted ship components for 10k per certification level, so a cert 1 engine, gun, etc will be 10k, a cert 2 will be 20k. And then if it has good stats, maybe throw on a little extra here and there or if its engineered already a little more.
