They look good to me, exceptional? no.

Well discuss. Where is the line in your mind?

Well tbh i think the only thing that counts on engines are:-

AP/HP

Energy drain

Mass

Speed

As the others depend on which ship you put them in

I have looted a few 92 speed engines (lvl 6 mind)- sorry cant remember the mass atm.

And AP/HP are always low on looted items

So i suppose if it was exceptional we would be looking at High AP/HP Like upto around 1k? and more?

When i see these engines this comes to mind...

Low Mass, High Speed, Average Pitch/Yaw/Roll

Conclusion Average, good for a low mass ship though.

As a pilot... I would say the top one is exceptional. The bottom is very good.

The mass/drain on the top is lovely, the turning is good and this would be considerable as an engine in an A-Wing if the freebie engine at tier three wasn't order of the day.

yeah the top one is quite good , , i wouldnt RE those two together tho , id be looking for another lvl2 with better roll yaw and pitch . as for the line between good/bad/exceptional , i think thats just going to come with time , especially for those of us that were not in beta , we had loads of numbers thrown at us at once and to try and get an idea for the attributes were looking for is quite hard at first , im trying to craft my way thru as many components as possible, to get an idea of whats atainable when crafting these parts to compare with looted , from what ive seen so far, some looted can mostly outshine crafted in terms of mass and average stats ,but suffer on hp . so as has already been mentioned ,any loot part with a high hp could defo be classed as great .

So what makes an exceptional part? Lets get right down to it. Just what is average on a given part? What is better than average, and what is exceptional? We've talked about reverse engineering in general here, but I have yet to see any hard, solid technical analysis about what we think as to part quality. For the purposes of this conversation, lets stick to engines for the moment. As an example, what do you think about these two engines?

Lvl 2 Starship Engine (#1)

Armor 95.0/95.0

Hitpoints 95.0/95.0

Reactor Energy Drain 1270.2

Mass 1529.1

Pitch Accel Rate 180.0

Yaw Accel Rate 180.0

Roll Accel Rate 180.0

Ptich Rate Max 57.5

Yaw Rate Max 61.5

Roll Rate Max 61.5

Engine Top Speed 79.6

Lvl 2 Starship Engine (#2)

Armor 93.1/93.1

Hitpoints 93.1/93.1

Reactor Energy Drain 1438.1

Mass 1422.3

Pitch Accel Rate 180.0

Yaw Accel Rate 180.0

Roll Accel Rate 180.0

Ptich Rate Max 59.2

Yaw Rate Max 60.0

Roll Rate Max 62.0

Engine Top Speed 69.0

Would you consider these to be exceptional? If you do, where is the line between average, above average, and exceptional? I'd really like everyone's input here. Any thought?

Believe it or not, this engine IS RE'd. It started out as two lvl 2 engines. One had pitch accel rate/yaw accel rate/roll accel rate of 300/300/180. The 2nd had 500/500/25. So that doesn't exactly fit the word that was given to us from darth P about RE taking the best stat for each category. But I still say this is a pretty damn good engine. For a lvl2, this engine stands with engines that are much higher in level, so that alone makes it ever so worth buying.

Anyway, anyone have any comments about those pitch/yaw/roll stats after RE that I mentioned? I would have thought it would have come out to 500/500/250?

I just picked up a lvl 1 engine with pitch/yaw/roll accel rates of 500/500/250 also. It was a lvl1 component, so I only needed it to RE. Guess what happened to those great ratings after re? 180/180/180, just like my example above.

pitch/yaw/roll accel is determined by the ship you're using, not the engine. The stats on the engine change to reflect the last ship it was in. I'm thinking the 180/180/180 is some kind of default number.

I reverse engineered an exceptional blaster for our guildleader .

Its a level 8 blaster with extreme dmg(2400-3800 about)and 14 energy per shot and around 19k mass and speed around 0.32.

I don't think anything close to this is possible to craft as shipwright.

Oh.. and its shooting violett lasers !

Can't be. These were never installed in a ship.

i do believe there are almost "hard caps" where an item approaches a limit. im a master pilot and master shipwright and mainly did shipwright so i can better understand the components.

i have re'd 1000's of parts, but only recently took a look further into the stats.

as an FYI, it seems all odd #'d re parts are pretty lousey.

now on to what i was getting into. i have noticed that on say...RE level 4 boosters, you are looking at roughly:

4k mass

32 accereration rate

1600 energy

170 booster energy use

40 recharge

i took time to monitor components on the bazaar. i was able to purchase for anywhere from 500-5000 credits, 3 very nice boosters. what was odd, is they had almost the same stats.

49.5 recharge on all 3

1950 energy on all 3

36.1 acceleration on one, 36.3 on two of them

190ish booster energy use

49.5 recharge

99% of all others had the first set of stats listed. i took the time to find "junk" re parts to re with these, focusing on lowering the mass and the booster energy use. im very impressed with the possibilities of RE. as a rebel master pilot, my ship of choice hands down is the a-wing. at 65k mass, its very hard to get everything into it.
