Well.. I was standing in front of Coronets Starport advertising for my freshly openend Shipyard.. A rebel pilot was shouting around the place, if someone could reverse engineer level 3 components..
I told him, that I can but that I charge 6k for it (2K for level one components + 2k for each level higher)..
'No problem' he answered me. We went into the starport so we were able to trade and I was able to craft another analyzer.. he gave me three engines (kryat I guess), I dropped them into my analyzer and hit the button.
Out came two parts... the new reveres engineered reactor and a disk. I knew that this disk only can be one of eight disk for the firespray. So I watch it a bit closer.. and I was right..
For a short moment.. well about 1/100000000 of a second, I was to keep it.. but than I explained that pilot about those disk. I explained the whole story and what it could mean to him. After my long explanation I traded with him. The reactor AND the disk.. for 6k.
And I told him once more to keep those disks until he has all eight of them. Then he shall look out for a SW of his trust to get his firespray. He was more than happy.
Some may call me stupid now and other will call me honorable. I say, that was the best thing I ever did, since I play that game. No, don't smile about me. I realy feel damn good that I was honest to him. He did't even knew, that the firespray only can be built with a complete set of those disk. I was still honest and explained it to him in details.
I feel good
but I still haven't sold one ship blueprint *sigh*
cheers

thanks for your kind words
they make me even feel better
I wish for that pilot, that he will find the remaining 7 disks and that he will find the SWs who will give him the disks back with the reverse engineered components.. and maybe he will come to me afterwards to let me make his firespray.
Even if it is not for myself. Even I can't charge for it (except I need resources). It would make me so happy and so proud
I always was a honest player. But that situation today was.. well .. I can't find the right words to describe it. I don't have to mention that it was the first firespray disk I held in my hands and I ever saw since the starting of JTL.
I just hope, he keeps my recomandation (sp?) in mind and doesn't sell it. Because I told him, that those disk are unpayable.
cheers

Ps. After the start of this thread, I made 250k with selling SW stuff... good things always are coming back

I wish you were on Intrepid.
And no - there was nothing stupid about that what-so-ever.
See, that player is going to tell his friends about it, and they'll two friends, and they'll tell two friends, and so on...
Business will pick up.
(P.S. If you get that 'joke' - I know how old you are! =P )

Although the anonymity of the Internet certainly allows some people to act even less ethically than they may in the physical world, it also allows for people to act with honor and grace, without any societal pressures.
You acted with honor. Regardless of what others may say or not say here, *you* know that you did the right thing.
Although we can - and do - give you 5 stars, the important thing is that you *live* a 5-star life.
Thanks for the story - and the reminder of how we all can me.

If you giving back the disk was stupid: then I truly, honestly, and fervently hope that more of that sort of stupidity finds its way into this world
.
5 Stars for you, it's the least I can do for someone who holds honor so dear.

Kudos to you. Its a game right? And somewhere down the line you'll get the disks eventually. Greed in games is soooo laughable, but its a normal feeling to have in RL, but in game? LOL. 5 stars 4 u. BTW, just curious, 18+?

This is a wonderful story....kudos to you for setting a great example (even when no one would ever have known if you did not). As a longtime Master Smuggler I can understand that moment of hesitation and I am happy to say that you made the best possible choice...it will definately have an effect on your future endeavors (a positive one). Five stars from me too (first time I ever starred anyone)

Wow, good judgement, and I thought only us DE's were that honerable, since we dont have any lootable components and stuff along the lines of that and all...
