Thread: Trying for that certain look...

The reward engines use the second variant look, I know, but you'd be hard pressed to fit either in a Z-95 (or stock them on a regular basis) They may change the look in the same way on an X-Wing, though.
I think you might be right there, as I belive that they also alter the look of the engines of a Y-Wing. I had hopes that there was a craftable variation as well, but if there is it is probably of a high enough level that you'd run into the mass problems you mention above.
Guess I'll just have to try this the old fashioned way then... I had hoped to avoid all of that. Ah, well. ![]()

I just got the reward engine with my alt yesterday, and it did alter the engine on my dunelizard. Dual-engines baby!

I remember when working up rebel pilot initially that I had an Incom engine in the Y that altered the look, so I know it's not *only* reward engines that do it. I've been meaning to hook up a z95 best I can and see what I can do with 12k-ish mass, I'll keep an eye out for those huge honkin' engines. Definitely going to try to find an Incom one to test with too, just in case.

no, i knew that, but i meant that it was an Incom engine that wasn't a reward engine. i thought the above posts were saying that only the reward engine would do the 'change'. sorry for the confusion, i've never been the greatest at expressing my thoughts coherently, heh.

The Rebel reward engine IS an Incom engine.
Well, that is promising, anyway, and makes a degree of sense. Incom is said to be the manufacturer of the Z-95 and the X-Wing (see the StarWars.com databank if you're interested in more detail), and so placing those engines on an Incom product might be the rationale behind these being the source of the modification.
Interesting note on the Y-Wing, those engines were supposed to have been manufactured with plating running down the entire surface of them, but would get stripped by mechanics to allow easy access, resulting in the stock look of the Y-Wing that we know. The modified-look JTL Y-Wing engines are plated all the way down, as if they were freshly manufactured. That's a funny bit of trivia for the art team to have picked up on, but cool none the less.
I've *really* got to make time tonight to play around with this and see where I get.

yeah but the alternate y engine look also has the engine posts pointing in an upward and away diagnal (looks like the warp engines on the Enterprise to me) as well.
and to add to the posts from above, I as well have looted engines that use the alternate engine look so they are definately not only reward engines but they do SEEM to be rarer than the normal design ones. And you can only tell by equiping them.
