Thread: Typical RE charge?

I was just curious as to a ballpark that you all charge for RE'ing for other people. Is there anything I can do to make the process easier for the SW? I was planning on just sorting the parts for each RE into seperate backpacks and labeling them with the first item to go into the tool.

This is fine unless the customer has a specific component he/she wants RE'd first, like for an engine/booster look, or a weapon effect.

I do it for free, because there's a chance that a KSE disk will drop.

And if you were that organized, I'd do it for less than free Seriously, that would be an amazingly organized way to get your REing done, and you'd make your shipwright very very happy.

Well, basically I charge nothing because the only people I RE for are those that regularly unload their space junk on my vendor as opposed to an NPC... one man's junk is another man's RE filler!

Seriously though, if a person has all the parts they want RE'd and it is not inconvenient for me to do it, why charge for 50 (hell, I don't even remember) units of metal? Now if the person needs some filler for that level 6-10 part I will charge them for that... unless of course they are on the list of people who have fed me lot's of salvage for very discount prices.

As a long term Veteran Pilot. I'd say do it for Free. RE'ing is so easy to charge for it is just insulting, Unless of course your out in the middle of no where tending to your harvies when you get a tell asking for you to travel half way across the galaxy, in that case you should charge a small fee.

But generally as a customer what I look for in a shipwright isn't always the best stocked vendor, Its customer care. If I find a SW thats nice, friendly and will RE for me then I'll bring all my business to them ( I spend a fortune on missiles ) as well as point other pilots towards them.

I also RE at no charge. If the customer understands the RE process, I just give him a backpack to load up. I usually let them keep the backpack for future RE's and it also makes dropping loot on my vendor alot easier for all concerned. If you are using a storage vendor a nice tip is to price the component you are waiting to get enough to RE level. So, on your vendor a RE 7 shield goes for 777777777. The when you are ready to do some RE just go to your vendor and select shields, sort by price, and at a glance you can see what needs RE'd.

I RE for tips and I tell people if they get a disk. It's very dishonest not due to the value of the disk.

I like to compare RE'ing to the old slicing system. True, the actual resource cost is marginal (as with old-style slicing), but there is definitely time consumption on your part and it's not the most interesting of activities (again, much like slicing). But most importantly, your customer pays for not having to master SW to get his REs done. So I'd personally suggest a charge of 5-10k per RE'd component, or some formula to compensate for the extra work with higher-level REs, like 5k for lvl 2 up to 25k for lvl 10.

I'm not a SW btw, but that is what I feel needs paid. I did give 25k for the making of my last lvl 10 gun. Mostly because the SW in question was kind enough not to hang on to my 4.9k max damage SLEDGEHAMMER. =P

Well I am a master shipwright, and I follow a very similar rule. I like how you put that too, they are paying for not having to master sw to get the benefits of a shipwright. Same reason you tip entertainers or doctors for buffs (and as a former doctor I have no problems if a doctor sets a price upfront, instead of asking for a tip). If it's a simple "here's the parts, please RE them" then I'd charge 1k a level. Anything that requires any of my extra parts comes at a much higher price.

Like Craft0r said, REing is a service more than a craft. You're doing something for someone because they can't do it themselves. I recommend that you tell the customer you RE for tips. Since they are likely to be in a good mood you'll probably get more than you would by having a set price.
