I can give you some hard numbers next time I log on, but heres the thing.
Some things SW's just cannot match against a well RE'd part in the same category. Engines are the perfect example, a good SW can make an engine that has top speed of 104 pretty easily, but try matching my RE'd engine on YPR in the low 80's. It's just not possible, and sure my top speed is only about 95 but I'll take that with 80 YPR anyday over the crafted one with 104 speed.
There are also some things that SW's can make that even some of the best RE'd loot doesn't really compare with. My most requested component is reactors. Shipwrights can make reactors with energy output far greater than all but the rarest of rare loot RE'd together.
Yeah I know REing stuff can be really great, no question. So far I haven't gotten my hands on anything worth REing, then again it has been a long, long time since I had a weekend off to reap the riches of space. Most of what I find is complete crap. To date I the items I've found that were good would be of no surprise to anyone here: capacitors, droid interfaces & boosters. Everything else in my ship is lovingly crafted, because I haven't found better loot to replace them with and I don't think I will unless I get lucky.
What has sparked my quest for info on both drop frequencey and stats of this "great loot" out there is because I think there's been a LOT of undeservedhype over space loot. I'm able to beat the tar out of most loot I have found, or have had customers bring in for evaluation. So why is it that I'm hearing that SW's can't compete with any of the loot out there? Why am I hearing one thing, yet experiencing something very different? Am I crazy? Am I an exception? Or are we hearing nothing more than myths and exaggerationsfrom pilots who were lucky enough to find ONE nice engine after a few weeks of finding endless piles of space junk?
Either I haven't seen enough loot in my time- which is possible-, or the really good stuff that we can't beat is a hell of a lot more rare than certain communities are willing to admit. I'm trying to figure out which. I'm also intereseted in seing how high the stats of this great loot is. I know what the limits are for shipwright, any SW that uses good materials will know too. What I don't know is the limit of good loot, because I am almost NEVER able to get exact numbers out of people I talk to.Or when I finally do find info on the number, no one can tell me how often they find great loot like this.

I do have a great idea though, and nobody (or at least, I) never said msw can't compete with any loot, just a lot of it.
At cert 6 (as an example), 67 on either Pitch or Yaw is rare, but not so rare a pilot can't expect to see one of each in a month playing casually.
Roll over 70 same story.

RE'd Item Statistics by Level - Is this useful to anyone?
That's the thread that I used when i was just starting to figure out what loot was good and what was crap. It also gives you an idea of the ranges of stats that drop for the different component types.

Yeah I will check that out today. I already know what not to craft, I was just looking for info on ranges.
You can find it at THIS LINK.
It may give you an idea of what "better than average" loot would be.

I just posted some statistics showing the average values for each loot component type and each level.

I want to have your children. Just kidding. But thanks so much for your hard work with keeping track of all that loot. I'd buy ya a beer or something.
