I didnt see a post on this so, please redirect me if there is one.

If at all possible, it would be nice to have a list of craftable equipment that require space resources (included the mining tools themselves) and their resource requirements and amounts, especially in these early times when supply is so low. Also, if known, the level requirements for the equipment besides the Mark/Class which seems to vary some, (for example, there are 5 marks in combat weapons and 3 for mining lasers plus elites). This would supply the knowledge to non-shipwrights that read the forums to pass on to those who don't, thus aiding in the mutual benefits of space mining for both the shipbuilders and their pilots.

The Mark III Mining Laser is certified level 7.

Not sure exactly about the large starfighter cargo hold.

Otherwise both the Y-8 and POB ship components are all effectively level 10 because they require master level to deed anyway.

Hope that helps,

I been back in the game for3 months.

Where inhell are the mining lasers and tractor beamssince the fecking quests on the Wookie planet are broken? How the hell we expected to play JTL and do space mining if none are available? I bought the Total Experience partially due to wanting to mine asteriods.

Every Shipwright I speak to tell me they don't have them.

You can get them from doin the Y-8 Quest (I think, but it is currently bugged and can't complete it). There are Shipwrights that are out there that will wither go and gather asteroid resources or buy them to make the equipment. I am betting that most Shipwrights would make some equipment for you if you got the resources yourself.

Hope this helps.

You can START the mining quest. You just can't finish it and get a Y-8. You'll get the free mining laser, tractor beam, and cargo hold.

You don't have to do any quest to be able to mine asteroids. The quest serves the purpose of teaching you how to accomplish this, as well as reward you in the end with a useless mining ship (a nice trophy). Admittedly, the quest does represent some of the best content in the game. However, all you need to do is look on public bazaar (using the vendor search) for a mining laser and a cargo hold, equip the mining laser to a weapon slot and the cargo hold to the cargo hold slot and you are set. Alternatively, contract a shipwright to craft these components for you.

If you want a good guide on mining asteroids, the Pilot Forum has a link in their FAQ sticky.

The missions for the Corellian Engineering Corp. quest are not all broken. You can go as far as getting a mining laser, tractor beam, and large cargo hold. The mission to escort the Y-8 ships is indeed broken but this is on the list of Top Current Issues according to SOE.

Any shipwright who says they can't make mining equipment probably just doesn't think they can sell mining equipment at the rate it would take to make sense for them, considering the equipment consists solely of asteroid resources that sell on the open market for as much as 75-80CPU.

Go to the main tree in Kachiro and find a guy named Flash, he'll give you a sob story about losing his ship and he needs you to carry a message he is the starting point.
