here is the latest, I finally broke 19k on a crafted reactor

LVL9 Reactor w/overcharger

Energy 19,049.9

Mass 50804.8

Granted this is pretty heavy but, I like the 19k+

LVL9 Engine w/overcharger

Speed 104.4 (I made a 104.7 but it sold before I could write down the specifics today)

Mass 32146.6

drain 2464.4

YPR .53

Do these compare to what you make with similar components?

What resources are you using in that engine? I'm using the best of most resources in it and second best in two of them and can't seem to get more than 104.3.

hrm. I can't for the life of me break 104 on my engines, though I have crafted 19100 gen lvl9 reactors.

EDIT: By the way, what's the best PY rating you can get on your level 9 engines? I've barely broken 60 on pitch and yaw (ignoring roll) -- by putting all points to that instead of speed.

It's hard to compare across servers, but that looks like a great engine and a very solid reactor. Are you on the server that had like the combined 1900 CD/OQ steel spawn?

I'll make a couple more and then list the info on the resources and experimentation tonight.

In my experience, I have never needed more than 14k reactor output.

Also, compared to YPR values, max speed is worthless to me (as long as I have above 80 speed, it's fine).

A 50k mass reactor is useless, in my opinion, except for inside Multiplayer Ships with spare tonnage, and even then, it's an unecessary part.

A max speed engine with YPR's in the 50's is also useless, in my opinion, again unless you're using it in a ship that doesn't need to turn much to function, i.e. a MP ship.

As it stands, until we can start crafting engines with comparable YPR's, I'll stick with looted engines.

on the contrary. I have an 18k reactor (crafted) in my yt-1300 and It simply cannot run engine overload 4 without the reactor being overloaded (and even then the counter measures and warheads go down)

Engine and weapons overloads eat the reactor - the only real way to use them is with reactor overload. I believe that Engine Overload 4 increases reactor drain 1000% (i.e. a 2500 drain engine will increase to 25k drain) and the same for Weapons Overload 4, so it would be very easy to raise a POB to 75k+ reactor drain just on engines and weapons and Reactor Overload 4 only increases an 18k reactor to 25.2k output.

I think you're right about EO4's drain, but it seems to me that RO4 bumps energy by 100%. I'd have to take a close look at my ship's loadout to confirm that, but I know a 1550 or so energy drain engine in an Interceptor that was taking around 12K energy total couldn't use a level 1 reactor (12430 energy or so) running RO4, but it could use a level 4 with 13750 or so. The numbers suggested a 100% energy increase in the reactors I was using.

You may be right if they've changed it - I've not checked recently. A few months back it was a 40% increase on RO4 and atthat time I checked it and that was correct (or as close as I could check it).
