I was deciding if i should be a rebel or a imperial and i was wondering if star destroyers would eventually be unlocked by ship wrights. The reason i bring this up is because they on the list of ships on the JTL site as well as the rebel frigate

No.
I highly doublt they will ever be player craftable either. They are just too big with the amount of space the devs have allocated so far.

They are listed as ships in the game, not ships that are flyable...

Only way I ever see them being in-game is as a very high end faction reward, but its use would be similar to a guild hall crossed with a Sorosuub Yacht...unattackable and can't attack like the yacht, but can be a guild hall for an imp guild, and a Mon Cal cruiser for a reb guild, for some ridiculous amount of faction. If it costs 150k resources to make a master level ship, most people myself included would gag at the amount needed for a "real" cap ship.

if they made the star destroyers or calamari cruisers, craftable by multiple master shipwrights now that would be interesting. (maybe 2 or 3)

It would be very cool if we could ever craft capitol ships. I do not see Star Destroyers or Mon Cals happening though. Maybe Corvette's since they already have an interior. Still would take a butt load of resources to make. Would be fun as hell to do with a group though.
And of course I have always wanted to be able to doc with a Mon Cal or Star Destroyer. Not player owned but maybe allow players to doc with them, roam around, maybe control turbo-lasers.
Would be cool to have to try and capture one as a mission. Gotta fight it and disable it and then dock with it and run around, killing stormies and trying to get to the bridge to capture it.
However, seeing as how hard the Corvette is, I can only imagine the crazy MOB's on an SD.

Actually..........A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away....the Devs did say that the next instanced adventure after the Corvette mission would be an instanced Star Destroyer. I havent read or heard anything about it since. It has also been stated that some capitol ships would be craftable in the future, but no list was given. I think the size of the Star Destroyer would immediately take it off any future craftables list.

They apparently have the interieror art for the Star destroyer done. They just haven't done anything else with it, going from what one of the devs had said...

I think we will just see them in events when requested, kind of like AT-AT's. NPC controlled.

I'm hoping that at some point soon they will add corvette's in the game as craftable items. It would make group fights and space battle so much more fun, as a group of 10 or so would actually have something to do, with the added ability to storm the ship after you disable it and go into 'ground' PvP. Making it that the only way you can 'destroy' the ship is to set the self destruct on the bridge would make this so much fun.

If the MP master ships take 150K of resources, I could see a Corvette easily taking 500K. 
But at least you would have a place to put all that level 10 gear.
Expensive, but the scenarios presented here certainly would be a lot of fun.

Ok, SD’s are just too big, but a corvette, maybe. Ok it would need a LOT of resources, I am thinking 10-20 sub-components each as large as a master ship chassis. The components of the schematic itself should also be very rare. Fully assembled, it should probably only be good for one ship. However, wouldn’t components to a corvette schematic be a perfect thing for the SD and reb base in deep space to drop occasionally?
Just a thought.
