Thread: there a trap making guide?
You will need to obtain a general crafting device or weapons crafting device to make them. With your novice scout skill you will gain access to the first lvl schematics for traps which include basic wire mesh and the first lvl poison dart. From there it will be a process of gatherin numerous amounts of hide and bone, crafting and using traps and working your way up the ladder.
So can buy the traps at the bazarres however they are so easy to make and relatively quick to fashion that for a scout it's almost a waste to buy them.
I have been attempting to put together a Scout Crafting Guide. I am having LOTS of trouble though. Heres some of the things I find.
1. Every planet has different kinds of bones/hides. There is alot of difference in using the different kinds. I find that using Avian Bone works the best, and Scaley Hide also seems to work well. But I've experimented a little and found that for Sharp Spur Bone Traps, that if you mix the two different kinds of bone, you get a totally mixed result.
2. Location. Ive noticed that depending on where I craft things, depends on the level of success and the level of experimentation.
3. Hit of Miss. I have used the SAME EXACT materials to make things, at the exact same spot. I make one, then wait a minute for the crafting station to drop to 0 then make another one. And guess what? I had two completely different results. So I tried making another, and yup, got different results again.
Im not sure if there is anyway to make a guide for this. I think you just sort of have to try a few combinations.
Also, I picked up Artisan hoping that I could make better stuff, but it had no effect on the quality of my traps and tents. However you do get ARtisan XP for crafting your scout stuff.
Picking up Artisan is a good idea I think actually. You get all that crafting exp from making traps, you might as well put it to some use. If you need the skill points later on, you can just surrender the artisan skills. In the meantime you can make foods and stuff with the hides and meat that you harvest. Gives ya something else to do while sitting in camp waiting for survival xp. ![]()
Usually when I am out running around I will sample a couple dozen units of some resource and give it medics along with some of what I harvest to help them make stimpacks. Seems to keep everyone happy.
Anbother bonus is that the more skills you have the easier it is to get apprentice points (and help others get their apprentice points) that you cna use to gain mastery in scout and ranger (and maybe pistoleer).
