Thread: Maskscent is Nerfed. It's Done. Let's campaign for Maskscent 2.
Ok nobody who knew about the easy exp from Maskscent is surprised by it getting nerfed. I mean I got all the exp I needed to qualify for Hunting 3, Hunting 4, Novice Creature Handler and Novice Ranger in 3 one way trips on the Yavin 4 Suicide Shuffle.
But I can't say I was happy about the way they've implemented this. It may have redressed an obvious question of game balance but in doing that they've madeMaskscent useless as a practical skill. That one minute timer is going to hurt for me as a Creature Handler sneaking in to a camp full of Agressive creatures to tame a baby. I would rather they reduced the distance you got the exp from to the creatures actual agro range but I didn't have a say in the matter.
That all said I'd like to start a campaign here for the implementation of Maskscent 2. This would be the same as the original Maskscent with no timer but only available at Master Scout or the Novice levels of Ranger or Creature Handler.

And give the novice CH/BE a no xp/old maskscent as they don't need xp anyway.
Remove "sneaked" xp from red con creatures.
Remove the ability to break your sneak to the non aggressives creatures.
Maskscent is definitely nerfed....to the point of uselessness. When any non-aggro creature can break your Mask, and then top that with a 60 second recast timer, it is useless as can be to even try an attempt at getting near an aggro secretively. Not to mention the exp nerf, it is ridiculous. On the rare occassions I did actually make it near some aggro creatures, I only got 75 Scout exp twice while running circles around them. Of course, then a non-aggro creature was nearby and broke it, and the aggro critters proceeded to tear me to pieces, since I had to wait 60 more seconds to try and save my behind.
Revamp Maskscent...Closer proximity range for Exp.....and make it so non-aggro creatures will not *break* it or *give away* your location.

As it stands now thier is 0 reason to use mask scent. at explore 4 it is to unreliable to use with any reuse timer. Personaly I think adding it in at noice creature handler / ranger / master scout is not a bad idea.
The only part of mask scent after nerf I really hate is that EVERY NON AGGRO MOB BREAKS IT!! Please change that and it will be a nice skill to have. Why would it work on a high level creature and be broken by a noobie creature, makes NO SENSE. Ok developers you nerfed the over experience production, but now fix the noobie creature breaking so it's useful again.
The XP gained was silly to begin with but now they've screwed with the actually usefulness of the ability which is the wrong way to approach the issue. All they had to do was nerf the XP to next to nothing, or take away the XP gained from it altogether and force people to actually harvest resources from corpses.
Either way, now it's just a pain to use and totally unreliable. A silly change that will hopefully soon be balanced properly and rectified. Take away the XP if you must, leave the ability alone.
