Thanks for help everyone. Got it. Its expensive. I cant believe poor scouts need to buy polymer and metal for our good traps. Thought we were supposed to be self sufficient =(. Guess Ill have to start doing more missions

We are supposed to be self-sufficient, but also keep in mind that our trapping skill begins to exceed military level traps at that point. At some point, bones and hides and meat just aren't gonna cut it
. Fortunately I have a friend with some harvesters. He lets me take what I need and I help maintain them when I can. Drop a couple thousand credits in periodically.

You are still self sufficient, just sell some bones and hides to buy the polymer and metal

I haven't used that trap very much yet but asI recall (getting senile in my old age so I can't swear to it) you don't have to specifically use a polymer to make the trap. Any petrochemical will do. It's just that you'll get the best quality traps using that specific petrochemical class (especiallyif you cross train as a Artisan and can experiment to improve the trap).

Polymer is a type of Petrochemical =P
It lists as 'Inert Petrochemical' if someone is selling it in the bazaar, or you can have a friendly artisan to find it for you.
I'm part Artisan so I don't have much difficulty with such things =)

Polymers are inorganic chemicals, there are a bunch of them. Artisans are able to survey for them, as they are useful in many different crafted items. If you cant find any in the bazaar, try asking one of the thousands of novice artisans to sample some for you.
