Thread: Harvesting.

Well I've been trying to recently become a CH, and the more I harvest, the less likely it looks to me I will be able to become a CH. How is it that people become CH's already? Worse yet, MASTERS? I mean every creature I harvest gives me what 50 scout xp? and the most I got was from an Ikopi. 90 xp I think it was. Well anyway, how do I find those critters that give good harvesting scout XP and where? I mean I'm no master at anything, So if you suggest something like Yavin IV or Dathomir, I'm sure I'll get pretty beat up. I know about the JAX's at Endor, but I cant use them to my advantage because I am an axer, can't really kill'em at a safe distance. So what do you suggest? Any information would be appreciated kindly, and I thank anyone in advance who doesn't flame me and helps me out! Thanks.....

I am on Tatooine and I grinded the scouting xp. Basically, the harder the creature is to kill, the more xp you get from the harvest. I guess my advise would be to start hunting/harvesting harder creatures. The risk goes up but so does the xp.

BTW, Master CH has nothing to do with scouting xp. You only need the Scouting xp to ATTAIN the novice CH level. After that, it's all based on CH xp. I think scouting xp is only used in the Ranger profession once you reach CH.

Jagouda,

You gotta give me more time than 15 minutes for a bump.

Honestly, the best way to do it is to find a lair (like gnorts) that spawn a big old buttload of mobs over time and just keeping wacking them. You'll do better taking down a huge group of 29-50 XP giving mobs than fighting long and hard to take down that Fambaa and getting 400 XP for it. It's always a trade off between time and XP.

Ikopis are great. Nightspiders and Hermit spiders are also great. Spiders spawn massive amounts of little critters when you farm (smack the lair, peace, wait for spawns, kill them, repeat) them. That's an easy way todo it.

And don't just think in terms of XP. Those bones and hide you get are pretty sought after. Sell 'em and make a profit.

Jaxes are slower than me running after more work in the office. But they are tough, tough mobs that will lay you out if you don't get out of the kill radius. Meleers are kinda screwed out of this fun.

Otherwise, Jaxes are the wonder mob. Great money, great XP, low risk, great trapping XP - it's like hitting the jackpot....

....which is why they're getting nerfed in the next update. So kill 'em while the killin' is good.

snorbals on lok are good for this too. they are very slow and very big (10k + HAM). i was tasking out the calves and getting 1500-1700 rifle xp and several hundred scouting xp plus 40-50 units hide. just be forewarned that lok is EXTREMELY dangerous and you should expect to die quite alot. just do not wander to far from nym's stronghold and you should be ok.

FInd lairs with easy things - things you can one and two shot with your attack of choice. Withexpert rifle (level III in the Marksman tree), I go find something like Crazed Durnis which go down with 2 headshot2's. I get to within 30m of the closest, go prone, and just kill them all. Very few ever reach me to do any damage.

Don't overlook really simple monsters as well. Things like Vrelts or paralopes add up quickly when you can one-shot them.

Once the lair escorts are gone (I don't attack the lair itself), I run to the next batch of yellow on my screen.

Use maskscent for the occasional scouting exp bonus.

I only bother with specific missions while in town. I grab two, head in that direction, and generally just hunt.

For maximum efficiency, I find that it's better to kill all of the lair monsters and then run to the bodies to harvest. Using this method and some relatively basic weapons skills, I can get 10K weapons exp, 1K combat exp, and 5K scouting exp an hour.

You may not advance quickly in traps doing this (not sure as I don't use traps) or wilderness survival (as nothing much gets to you to beat on you). If you fight 3 and 4 shot mobs, you will get damaged and spend a lot of time in camps healing. 1 and 2 shot mobs are best for exp gain. Your mileage may vary.

I'm going to hit Novice Rifleman and Novice Creature Handler fairly easily doing this.

Oh, and killing massive numbers of easy mobs generates huge quantities of resources which sell well on the bazaar if you price them right (I do 2 creds/resource + 20 listing fee) and they sell within a day.
